ABOUT THIS ROLE
<p>This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific individual eligibility requirements in accordance with VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Sets and maintains professional nurse/patient relationship that exemplify VA's core values of integrity, commitment, advocacy, respect and excellence. Delivers care to patients in a respectful non-judgmental manner and according to diagnostic and Treatment Guidelines/SOPs to promote positive interaction. Demonstrates understanding of age and population specific characteristics that affect the health care needs of the visually impaired Veteran. Supports interventions that maximize blind rehabilitation patient self-care management abilities. Performs admission procedures as directed and completes Health Promotion screenings. Recognizes significant changes in the patient and emergent patient care situations promptly seeks assistance, and effectively intervenes as directed when appropriate. Adheres to standards of practice for medication administration, observes patient for adverse effects and reports to the team RN. Accurately documents and retrieves patient/clinical information using the electronic health record system. Provides effective education to patients and/or family members on common disease processes, medications, and/or prescribed diagnostic and/or treatment regimes, as directed. Participates in Quality Improvement activities, as directed. Maintains patient/ client privacy and maintains a safe/clean work environment. Follows policy and procedures related to safety and security measures, drills, infection control/prevention, universal precautions, and proper handling and cleaning of reusable medical equipment. Contributes to team-based staff meetings and task forces or committees, as appointed.
