Genetic Counselor

<p>About the Position: Located at Madigan Army Medical Center, Department of Pediatrics This is a Direct Hire Solicitation - Salary negotiation MAY be available for those candidates who are new to Federal service - Recruitment or relocation incentives MAY be authorized</p><h3>Major Duties</h3><p>Provide comprehensive genetic counseling for clients and families with suspected or confirmed genetic conditions.</p><p>Identify at-risk families, interpret disorders, analyze inheritance patterns, and review available options.</p><p>Collect comprehensive family histories and construct multi generational charts to support diagnostic evaluations.</p><p>Analyze genetic and clinical data to guide diagnostic testing and interpretation.</p><p>Provide psychosocial support and follow-up to patients adjusting to genetic diagnoses.</p><p>Advise and educate patients and parents through face-to-face counseling and clear explanations.</p><p>Support prenatal and high-risk clinics using cytogenetic and molecular diagnostic techniques.</p><p>Assist development of adult genetics clinics for familial cancer, cardiovascular, and neurodegenerative conditions.</p><p>Develop curricula and teach staff about genetic evaluation, counseling, and informed consent.</p><p>Participate in clinical research including protocol design, consent development, enrollment, data collection, and analysis,</p><h3>Education</h3>FOREIGN EDUCATION: If you are using education completed in foreign colleges or universities to meet the qualification requirements, you must show the education credentials have been evaluated by a private organization that specializes in interpretation of foreign education programs and such education has been deemed equivalent to that gained in an accredited U.S. education program; or full credit has been given for the courses at a U.S. accredited college or university.
