<p>Licensed Practical Nurse in Specialty Care at Audie L. Murphy VA Hospital providing progressively complex practical nursing care up to the GS-6 full performance level. Duties include vital signs, intake histories, clinical reminders, diabetic foot exams, medication/treatment administration, patient education, emergency response, diagnostic support, customer service, and care coordination for Veterans across age groups.</p><h3>Major Duties</h3><p>Total Rewards of a Allied Health Professional Duties include but are not limited to: GS-3 Performs assigned LVN duties under close supervision. Records vital signs and obtains intake histories. Assists providers with physicals, diabetic foot exams, and female wellness exams. Completes clinical reminders and other PACT-related tasks. Follows PACT Handbook, nursing protocols, and standing order SOPs. GS-4 Performs assigned LVN duties under frequent guidance. Carries out basic practical nursing care assignments in Primary Care. Observes, identifies, and responds to patient nursing needs. Performs PACT duties such as vital signs, intake histories, clinical reminders, and exam assistance. Supports quality care, customer service, and a Veteran-centered environment. GS-5 Carries out complex practical nursing care assignments in Primary Care. Provides practical nursing care to patients with physical and/or behavioral problems. Observes, identifies, and responds to patient nursing needs. Administers and documents commonly prescribed medications as permitted by policy. Recognizes emergencies, seeks RN/MD assistance, and assists in resuscitation procedures. GS-6 Carries out the most complex practical nursing care assignments in Primary Care. Uses judgment to sequence procedures and treatments based on patient condition. Accurately recognizes, reports, and records relevant patient information. Administers prescribed medications and treatments, monitors responses, and reports changes. Supports complex diagnostic tests or specialized procedures and precepts less experienced staff. When setting pay, a higher step rate of the appropriate grade may be determined after consideration of higher or unique qualifications or special needs of the VA (Above Minimum Rate of the Grade).Paid Time Off: 37-50 days of annual paid time offer per year (13-26 days of annual leave, 13 days of sick leave, 11 paid Federal holidays per year). Selected applicants may qualify for credit toward annual leave accrual, based on prior [work experience] or military service experience. Parental Leave: After 12 months of employment, up to 12 weeks of paid parental leave in connection with the birth, adoption, or foster care placement of a child. Child Care Subsidy: After 60 days of employment, full time employees with a total family income below $144,000 may be eligible for a childcare subsidy up to 25% of total eligible childcare costs for eligible children up to the monthly maximum of $416.66. Retirement: Traditional federal pension (5 years vesting) and federal 401K with up to 5% in contributions by VA Insurance: Federal health/vision/dental/term life/long-term care (many federal insurance programs can be carried into retirement) Telework: Available, ad-hoc only, in accordance with agency policies.
