<p>The Cardiac Catheterization RN is self-directed in goal setting for managing complex caret to the patients undergoing diagnostic, interventional, coronary, peripheral, and electrophysiology studies. The Cardiac Catheterization Nurse is responsible for assuring that the patient is correctly identified using the organization's two patient hemodynamic monitoring of a patient undergoing procedures and sedation along with cardiac rhythm monitoring and interpretation.</p><h3>Major Duties</h3><p>VA offers a comprehensive total rewards package: VA Nurse Total Rewards Major Duties include, but are not limited to: The Registered Nurse is responsible and accountable for individual nursing practice and determines the appropriate delegation of tasks consistent with the ANA Code of Ethics for Nurses to provide optimal patient care. Patient Care Delivery Delivers safe, effective care to assigned patients while developing technical competencies. Safely and effectively operates patient care equipment. Correctly and safely performs nursing procedures. Recognizes overt abnormal signs, symptoms, and changes in the patient's condition and responds appropriately. Implements provider orders and nursing interventions/orders in a timely and complete manner. Requests assistance from co-workers as needed and recognizes when to seek help. Nursing Process and Plan of Care Formulates a plan of care based on nursing assessments using the nursing process and ANA Standards of Nursing Practice. Completes initial assessment of patient condition and response to treatment, initiating follow-up as needed. Includes the patient and family/significant other in developing the initial plan of care and establishing goals. Updates the plan of care with assistance as needed. Assesses the patient's learning needs, learning preference, and readiness to learn. Develops and implements a plan to meet learning needs, instructing patients and families in basic health teaching and discharge planning. Documentation Documents the nursing process in a consistent, accurate, concise, and timely manner. Evaluates and documents patient response to interventions and progress toward attainment of goals and expected outcomes. Revises the plan of care based on evaluation of patient responses and outcomes. Uses the Computerized Patient Record System (CPRS), Essentris, Clinical Procedures, and Bar Coded Medication Administration (BCMA) software per policy, as well as any future patient documentation programs. Critical Thinking and Professional Practice Demonstrates grade-appropriate and consistent critical thinking skills. Recognizes when a patient has a problem and manages the problem safely and effectively within the scope of practice. Demonstrates a relative sense of urgency and takes the right action for the right reason (del Bueno). Completes the position-specific Competency Checklist annually and is rated competent in all measured areas. Performs other duties as assigned pertaining to this occupation to meet the needs of the Agency, Department, Facility, and/or Service.
