This job will close when we have received 50 applications, which may be sooner than the closing date.</p><h3>Major Duties</h3><p>The RN - Emergency Department (ED) will work in Inpatient Care Services and assume responsibility for coordinating care focused on patient transition through the continuum of care, patient and family education, patient self-management after discharge, and supporting factors that impact customer satisfaction. Major duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Accountable for all elements of the nursing process when providing and/or supervising direct patient care. Must be able to care for patients with varying acuity levels in a high-demand, fast-paced environment. Must be able to provide competent care to all patients seeking treatment in the emergency department by utilizing clinical education, critical thinking, and professional experience to deliver timely, safe, and effective care. This includes the ability to respond to life-threatening conditions, prioritize rapidly changing patient needs, and implement evidence-based interventions to support optimal patient outcomes. Assesses, plans, implements, and evaluates care based on age-specific components. Considers all characteristics of the individual, including age and life stages, state of health, race and culture, values, and previous experiences. Administers medications and procedures per established policies and guidelines. Influences care outcomes by collaborating with members of the interdisciplinary team. Must be able to communicate effectively with individuals of various education levels and backgrounds by using clear, professional, and respectful communication strategies. Works cooperatively as a member of a team in all assignments. Participates in unit/program level quality improvement processes and initiatives, as well as customer service programs. Must be able to successfully complete Prevention and Management of Disruptive Behavior (PMDB) levels I, II, III, and IV as an RN - ED. Must have Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification by the American Heart Association (AHA) prior to working on the floor. Resources are available to assist with obtaining certification through the RQI American Heart Association. National Stroke Institute Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification is also required within six months of hire as an RN - ED. Must be able to wear a powered air-purifying type respirator (PAPR) and Level C Personal Protective Equipment as an RN - ED. PREFERRED EXPERIENCE: Minimum 3 To 5 years of RN experience in an Emergency Department within the last five years Prior ED triage experience, including ESI or similar triage acuity systems Familiarity with stroke/STEM I protocols and time sensitive emergency pathways Demonstrated ability to manage multiple patients simultaneously and prioritize effectively Knowledge of EMT ALA regulations and safe patient flow processes Strong communication skills with multidisciplinary teams, patients, and families Experience with patient de-escalation and behavioral health crises Certification preferences: ACLS, PALS, TNCC, NIHSS, CEN Preceptor or charge nurse experience preferred Work Schedule: Variable.
