Nurse (Education/Diabetes)

<p>About the Position: This position is located in the Department of Pediatrics at Madigan Army Medical Center. The incumbent will serve as a Diabetes Nurse Educator and Nurse Consultant to pediatric and adolescent diabetes patients and their families. A recruitment or relocation incentive may be authorized. Salary negotiation may be available for those candidates who are new to Federal service. Student Loan repayment may be authorized. This is a Direct Hire Solicitation</p><h3>Major Duties</h3><p>Provide comprehensive education to pediatric and adolescent diabetes patients and their families.</p><p>Develop, implement, and evaluate individual education plans to maximize assimilation of information, prevent complications, and reduce acute and chronic care costs.</p><p>Coordinate and conduct in-service education programs for other health care professionals.</p><p>Prioritize high-risk patients, schedule patients for the education classes, and monitor their participation and compliance.</p><p>Monitor blood glucose levels and insulin administration nearly in real-time using CGMS and closed-loop insulin pumps.</p><p>Order laboratory tests which include basic metabolic panels, glycosylated hemoglobin A1C panels, lipid profiles, and urine microalbumin/creatinine ratio panels.</p><p>Update and review diabetic management plans prior to signature by the pediatric endocrinologist.</p><p>Instruct outpatients and inpatients regarding diabetes, its complications, and prevention of complications.</p><h3>Education</h3>See Qualifications section for education requirements
