<p>This position is located at the VA Northeast Ohio Healthcare System, Pharmacy Service. Serves as the Acting Service Chief in the absence of the Service Chief. Develops and maintains a system of internal reviews that ensure service programs operate at a satisfactory level of performance and in compliance with regulatory and with regulatory and accrediting bodies. Oversees the effective utilization of resources and budget to support the mission and goals of the organization. Manages the day-to-day operation of the inpatient pharmacy. Provides direct supervision to the staff pharmacists and volunteers assigned to the inpatient pharmacy. Coordinates multiple programs in pharmacy service including the Pharmacy Medication Reconciliation Program, Point of Care Program , Sterile Products Program and Clinic Medication Program. Interviews prospective employees, makes selections, assigns personnel, and serves as a mentor to help employees develop their full potential. Incumbent is a Certified Mentor under the VA Mentorship Program. Advises medical staff and other health care professionals on formulary drug availability, dosage, common adverse effects, and considerations in therapy. Offers reasonable alternatives choices or course of action when necessary Plans, organizes and participates in pharmacist and technician staff development. Coordinates training of new employees, residents and students in the inpatient area. Develops measures, assesses and documents the competency and training needs of inpatient pharmacy staff. Routinely monitors performance and quality of services, and initiates corrective/improvement measures. Develops and maintains quality assurance monitors for pharmacy services provided for inpatients, reports conclusions, actions, and impact to higher management.
