ABOUT THIS ROLE
<p>he Marion VA Health Care System is seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) to serve in the role of Minimum Data Set (MDS) with the Community Living Center Nursing Service located in Marion, IL.</p><h3>Major Duties</h3><p>Duty Statement - Community Living Center MDS RN The Community Living Center (CLC) Minimum Data Set (MDS) Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible for delivering fundamental, knowledge-based nursing care to assigned residents while developing technical skills. The RN ensures that all nursing-related sections of the Resident Assessment Instrument (RAI)/MDS Assessment and Care Area Assessments (CAAs) are coded accurately and completed within CMS and Veterans Health Administration (VHA) timeframes. Key duties include: Assessment & Coding: Responsible for coding only the nursing sections of the RAI/MDS and CAAs, ensuring compliance with CMS and VHA requirements. Interdisciplinary Collaboration: Participates in CLC interdisciplinary team care plan meetings, reviews, communicates, and monitors residents' care plans. Education & Training: Works with the CLC Resident Assessment Coordinator (RAC) to educate staff on RAI/MDS documentation requirements, software use, and program updates. Quality Improvement: Supports quality improvement activities based on CLC quality management data and participates in ongoing survey readiness activities. Documentation & Compliance: Documents and takes corrective action when discrepancies in coding or documentation are identified during interrater reliability reviews. Shared Governance: Participates in unit- and organizational-level shared governance councils, using clinical expertise and evidence-based practice to improve care quality. Leadership & Feedback: Provides formal or informal constructive feedback to peers to promote improvement. This role requires strong attention to detail, adherence to regulatory timelines, and the ability to collaborate effectively within a multidisciplinary team to ensure optimal resident care and compliance with federal and state standards.
