<p>This position is located at the Clement J. Zablocki VA Medical Center in Milwaukee, Wisconsin (http://www.milwaukee.va.gov/) in the Acute Care Inpatient Division (6CS). The Acute Care Assistant Nurse Manager (ANM) supports the Nurse Manager (NM) with the operations of their designated unit(s). The Acute Care Assistant Nurse Manager will function as a clinical expert and is responsible and accountable for all elements of the nursing process when providing or supervising direct patient care.</p><h3>Major Duties</h3><p>The Supervisory ANM is typically responsible for assisting the NM but is not responsible for independently carrying out the expectations of a NM on a routine basis. Some of the ANM duties include but are not limited to: Responsible and accountable for the direction and oversight of specific orientation, training, development of staff, and evaluation of individual staff performance. Function as a role model, educator, practitioner, and leader Ensure program effectiveness by collaborating with the interdisciplinary team Influence care outcomes by collaborating with members of the interdisciplinary team to remove barriers and implement new evidence-based cutting-edge programs/processes. Exercise the authority to direct work, assign duties, evaluate employee performance, recommend employee awards, approve/deny leave, recall employees to duty, propose discipline grievance adjustments under their direct supervision. Engages in professional organizations to enhance leadership and career growth. Adheres to ethical principles in decision-making, fostering accountability at a personal, organizational and staff level. Permanent Change of Station (PCS): Not Authorized.</p><h3>Requirements</h3>U.S. Citizenship; non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy. Must pass pre-employment physical examination. Participation in the seasonal influenza vaccination program is a requirement for all Department of Veterans Affairs Health Care Personnel (HCP). The Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN), located at 3343 Peachtree Road NE, Suite 850, Atlanta, GA 30326. The ACEN accredits all levels of nursing programs, including clinical doctorate, masters/post master's certificate, baccalaureate, associate and diploma nursing education programs. (Note: The National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission/NLNAC changed its name to ACEN in May 2013. ACEN's website may be utilized to verify accredited programs using automated inquiry processes; however, for verification of any nursing program's accreditation prior to 1998, an automated inquiry cannot be used and ACEN must be contacted directly via their email contact information on the ACEN website to verify.) The Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE), located at 655 K Street, NW, Suite 7, Washington, DC 20001. The CCNE is an accrediting arm of the American Association of Colleges of Nursing (AACN) and accredits nursing education programs at the bachelor and master's level.
