<p>VA Greater Los Angeles Healthcare System (VAGLAHS) is seeking to hire an experienced Wound Care Registered Nurse (RN) to work in our Nursing Operations Department. The RN is responsible for providing competent, evidence-based care to assigned patients and oversight of licensed vocational nurses/nursing assistants, as appropriate to the setting. The RN is to have strong critical thinking skills, and exhibits a robust technically skilled wound care practice.</p><h3>Major Duties</h3><p>Current, permanent GLA employees will be given the first consideration. Must submit most recent SF-50 to receive 1st consideration. The Wound Care RN has experience with the situations in which they are ultimately expected to assume responsibility for the coordination of care focused on patient education, self-management, and customer satisfaction throughout the continuum of care. Responsible and accountable for all the elements of the nursing process when providing and/or supervising the management of patients/residents with acute and chronic wounds across clinical practice settings. Job duties include, but are not limited to, the following Administers medications and procedures per established policies and guidelines. Influences care outcomes by collaborating with members of the interdisciplinary team. Identifies and institutes preventive and treatment measure and monitors results of wound care delivered. Provides colleagues with useful tools to improve wound care knowledge, assessment, and management skills. Assist in directing the provision of nursing education, orientation, competencies and providing quality improvement and outcomes utilization consultation. Analyzes resources available to staff and identifies risk areas, including quality metrics, supplies, equipment, availability of data and information. Provides evaluation of the effectiveness of resources, equipment, supplies, and specialty advanced therapies currently in use and being considered for future use for wound assessment and management (and may include ostomy and continence care). Fosters a safe and supportive environment conducive to the professional development of healthcare professionals. Supports colleagues through wound care knowledge sharing to provide safe, quality nursing care. Participates in activities and strategies to sustain an evidence based-practice culture.
