Registered Nurse - Women Veterans Program Manager

ABOUT THIS ROLE
<p>Serves as the Women Veterans Program Manager (WVPM) for the New Mexico VA Health Care System (NMVAHCS), reporting directly to the Chief of Staff. The WVPM is responsible for overseeing and facilitating the coordination of comprehensive patient care for female veterans, ensuring seamless access and continuity of services from initial entry into the VA system throughout the entire continuum of care.</p><h3>Major Duties</h3><p>The Women Veterans Program Manager (WVPM) Registered Nurse provides comprehensive leadership in managing complex aspects of care for women Veterans across the continuum of services. This role integrates advanced clinical judgment, creativity, and evidence-based decision-making to enhance care quality, promote staff and patient safety, and elevate standards of practice. The WVPM collaborates closely with internal VA departments, community agencies, and women Veteran organizations to address the unique healthcare needs of female Veterans and advocate for their interests. By identifying service gaps, implementing best practices, and fostering strong partnerships, the WVPM plays a pivotal role in creating a supportive, integrated environment that promotes the physical, mental, and social well-being of women Veterans. Duties include but not limited to the following: Demonstrates proficiency in practice based on conscious and deliberate planning. Assesses the need for services for women Veterans and implements services for eligible women Veterans as well as to provide oversight to ensure that identified needs are met. Executes comprehensive planning for Women's Health (WH) issues that improves the overall quality of care provided to women Veterans and achieves program goals and outcomes. Provides facility guidance regarding change implementations as directed by Veterans Affairs Central Office (VACO) while working across multiple service lines and disciplines. Self-directed in goal setting for managing complex client situations. Assesses, plans, implements, and evaluates WH care based on age-specific components. Assumes responsibility for the coordination of care focused on patient education, self-management, and customer satisfaction throughout the continuum of care. Follows procedures per established policies and guidelines. Influences outcomes by collaborating with members of the interdisciplinary team. Responsible and accountable for all elements of the nursing process when providing and/or supervising direct patient care. Strategically plans, coordinates quality care, evaluates delivery of care including timeliness and outreaches to women Veterans needing services. Coordinates the provision of comprehensive health care services to women Veterans. Plans for the establishment of new specialty or primary programs and the expansion of existing programs to meet the needs of women Veterans who are currently seeking care within the facility and the increasing number expected to do so. Ensures access, service and benefits to women Veterans. Coordinates the provision of state-of-the-art diagnostic, treatment, consultation and referral services within a comprehensive, integrated health care network. Coordinates medical and/or surgical health care services and ensures psychological care of mental health needs, assesses the improved quality of clinical care.
