ABOUT THIS ROLE

<p>The VA New Mexico Healthcare System is seeking an Assistant Nurse Manager to serve in our Nursing, Ambulatory Care Department. The ANM serves as a clinical expert, overseeing patient care delivery, care coordination, patient education, and self-management. This role collaborates with interdisciplinary teams, leads process improvement initiatives, supports staff development, and promotes high-quality outcomes through sound judgment, leadership, and strong interpersonal skills.</p><h3>Major Duties</h3><p>Duties include, but are not limited to: Supports the Nurse Manager in overseeing 24/7 operations of the assigned nursing unit. Provides leadership coverage for other Assistant Nurse Managers as needed. Directs and supervises staff orientation, onboarding, training, and professional development. Conducts performance evaluations and promotes staff accountability and excellence. Serves as a role model, educator, mentor, and clinical leader for nursing teams. Collaborates with interdisciplinary teams to improve patient care outcomes and remove barriers to care. Leads the implementation of evidence-based practices, innovative programs, and process improvements. Promotes professional growth through participation in nursing and healthcare organizations. Upholds ethical decision-making and fosters a culture of accountability at all levels. Equips staff with tools and resources to provide culturally competent, patient-centered care. Builds strong partnerships across the care continuum through effective communication and emotional intelligence. Contributes to the development of care delivery models and patient-centered healthcare environments. Ensures compliance with regulatory, accreditation, organizational, and nursing practice standards. Aligns nursing operations and clinical objectives with organizational strategic goals and initiatives. Champions diversity, equity, inclusion, and a positive workplace culture while maintaining compliance with all policies, directives, and standard operating procedures (SOPs). Relocation/Recruitment Incentives: Not Authorized Permanent Change of Station (PCS): Not Authorized</p><h3>Requirements</h3>U.S. Citizenship; non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy. Must pass pre-employment medical evaluation. Participation in the seasonal influenza vaccination program is a requirement for all Department of Veterans Affairs Health Care Personnel (HCP).
