ABOUT THIS ROLE
<p>The primary purpose of the Registered Nurse - Performance Improvement is to utilize their knowledge and critical analysis of a variety of different VA outcomes databases. The analysis of information and data in these databases includes the evaluation of the data definitions, critically analyzing the processes that impact these outcome databases and evaluating the effectiveness of the structures and processes that support the performance metric.</p><h3>Major Duties</h3><p>Major duties include, but are not limited to: Advanced review of clinical documentation outlined in the Bar Code Administration (BCMA) record and the Computerized Patient Record System (CPRS). Critical analysis of a variety of different VA and/or VHA outcomes databases including but not limited to VHA Support Service Center (VSSC), the External Peer Review Program (EPRP), Strategic Analytics for Improvement and Learning (SAIL), and Inpatient Evaluation Center (IPEC). Prepare reports on the status of the program and complete requests for updates on the program from the various stakeholders. Use standardized tools to execute the job function such as LEAN Methodologies and the plan, do, study, act (PDSA) cycle. Complete recurring reports and other programmatic requirements in a timely manner. Use a team approach to identify, analyze, and resolve patient care problems with measurable outcomes. Examine clinical processes including an evaluation of completed documentation in the electronic health record (EHR) in accordance to established policies and procedures. All other duties as assigned, pertaining to this occupation, to meet the needs of the Agency, Department, Facility, and/or Service. Permanent Change of Station (PCS): Not authorized.</p><h3>Requirements</h3>U.S. Citizenship; non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy.
