<p>The Outpatient Surgery RN functions as perioperative nurse in a high-volume, fast-pasted surgical setting, demonstrating flexibility and adaptability to meet the needs of the unit while providing excellent nursing care to a variety of patients ranging from age 18 - 100+ years.</p><h3>Major Duties</h3><p>The Outpatient Surgery RN functions as perioperative nurse in a high-volume, fast-pasted surgical setting, demonstrating flexibility and adaptability to meet the needs of the unit while providing excellent nursing care to a variety of patients ranging from age 18 - 100+ years. Excellent customer service, communication and critical thinking are crucial to maintain patient safety. You will collaborate and interact with Surgeons, Anesthesia, OR Nursing, and other professional personnel. You will demonstrate proficiency using the nursing process to provide preoperative, phase 1 and 2 recovery, and discharge; to include safe patient transport. You will document assessments and develop a plan of care related to bio/psycho/social/physical/learning and discharge needs. You will maintain physical and emotional patient comfort, pain management and educate on pain management modalities through collaboration with the interdisciplinary team. You will perform Charge Nurse duties as assigned and initiate and participate in process improvement projects to improve patient care. Knowledge to administer moderate sedation is required for this position. You will cross train to Interventional Radiology (IR)/Preop/Moderate Sedation/Intraop and PACU-Phase I recovery, rotating to each as assigned to meet the needs of the units. You will rotate shifts within the core unit hours 0500-2000 and on-call as assigned to complete post-surgical telephone follow up assessments. You will report to the Nurse Manager for IR Nursing, OPS, and PACU.
