<p>This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific eligibility requirements per VHA policy & submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Program Approval, award amount (up to $200,000) & eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after review of the EDRP application. Former EDRP participant ineligible to apply.</p><h3>Major Duties</h3><p>https://youtu.be/EGW4PMZvJto?si=FFsHlqziTOyOGZP- Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following: The Psychiatric Mental Health Registered Nurse (MH RN) provides patient-centered, recovery-oriented care while maintaining self-awareness in supporting individuals living with mental health conditions. In this role, the MH RN leads comprehensive care coordination through collaboration with Inpatient Mental Health Units, participation in interdisciplinary team huddles and meetings, warm hand-offs, and the development and facilitation of nurse-led psychoeducational groups. The MH RN employs therapeutic communication, de-escalation techniques, and recovery-oriented language, and delivers education to Veterans, their families, and significant others regarding mental health conditions, medications, and treatment plans. Additionally, the MH RN reports, assists, and directs the resolution of safety concerns, works closely with program leadership to enhance patient and program outcomes, and leads team responses to psychiatric and medical emergencies. Duties: Responsible and accountable for all elements of the nursing process when providing and/or supervising direct patient care. Assesses, plans, implements, and evaluates care based on age-specific components. Assumes responsibility for coordination of care focused on patient education, self-management, and customer satisfaction throughout the continuum of care. Follows procedures per established policies and guidelines. Influences care outcomes by collaborating with members of the interdisciplinary team. Executes position responsibilities that demonstrate leadership, experience, and creative approaches to management of complex client care. Executes position responsibilities to improve patient and organizational outcomes. Provides patient-centered and recovery-oriented care while maintaining self-awareness when caring for patients living with mental health conditions. Facilitates care coordination, including linking with Inpatient Mental Health Units to support continuity of care, participating in interdisciplinary treatment team huddles and meetings, and performing warm hand-offs. Develops content and facilitates nurse-led psychoeducational groups. Uses therapeutic communication techniques, practices de-escalation skills, and utilizes recovery-oriented language. Provides Veterans, family members, and/or significant others with education regarding illness, medications, and treatment plans. Reports, assists, and/or directs safety concern resolution and collaborates with program leadership to help improve patient and program outcomes. Directs team response to psychiatric and medical emergencies. Documents nursing triage assessments, risk screens, measurement-based care tools, clinical reminders, and patient plans of care according to facility policy. Maintains professional boundaries to protect patient vulnerabilities and act in the best interest of the patient.
