<p>The primary purpose of this position is to serve as a Registered Nurse at the Amarillo VA Health Care System in the Psychosocial Rehabilitation and Recovery Center (PRRC), supporting the care and recovery of Veterans with serious mental illness. The incumbent will provide individual and group care, helps with suicide risk assessments and safety planning, and works closely with other team members.</p><h3>Major Duties</h3><p>VA offers a comprehensive total rewards package: VA Nurse Total Rewards Duties to include but not limited to: Provide clinical oversight and guidance to nursing staff within the PRRC program Ensure nurses adhere to evidence-based practices in mental health and recovery care, conduct regular reviews of nursing documentation for accuracy and compliance, and oversee medication administration processes to ensure safety and effectiveness Coordinate nursing assignments and workload distribution, provide mentorship and support for ongoing professional development, and monitor performance, providing feedback and conducting regular evaluations Supervise nurse facilitates communication between nursing staff and the interdisciplinary team, ensure participation in team meetings, and fosters collaborative care planning Implement new protocols or best practices, monitor adherence to safety and infection control standards, and support quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient outcomes within the program Assumes responsibility for the coordination of care focused on patient education, self-management, and customer satisfaction throughout the continuum of care. Responsible for the documented outcomes at the program or service level Monitor and assess Veterans' mental and physical health status, including supporting suicide risk screenings and safety planning Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings and communicate relevant observations to psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, and other healthcare providers. Work Schedule: 8:00am to 4:30pm, Monday-Friday Telework: AD-HOC telework available Virtual: This is not a virtual position. Pay: Competitive salary, regular salary increases, potential for performance awards Paid Time Off: 50 days of paid time off per year (26 days of annual leave, 13 days of sick leave, 11 paid Federal holidays per year) Retirement: Traditional federal pension (5 years vesting) and federal 401K with up to 5% in contributions by VA Insurance: Federal health/vision/dental/term life/long-term care (many federal insurance programs can be carried into retirement) Licensure: 1 full and unrestricted license from any US State or territory Relocation/Recruitment Incentives: Not Authorized Permanent Change of Station (PCS): Not Authorized</p><h3>Requirements</h3>U.S. Citizenship; non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy. All applicants tentatively selected for VA employment in a testing designated position are subject to urinalysis to screen for illegal drug use prior to appointment. Applicants who refuse to be tested will be denied employment with VA. Selective Service Registration is required for males born after 12/31/1959. Subject to background/security investigation. Must pass pre-employment physical examination. Participation in the seasonal influenza vaccination program is a requirement for all Department of Veterans Affairs Health Care Personnel (HCP). Complete all application requirements detailed in the "Required Documents" section of this announcement.<h3>Education</h3>The Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN), Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing (BSN), or Master of Science Degree in Nursing (MSN) must be recognized by the appropriate State-accrediting agency and accredited by either of the following accrediting agencies at the time the program was completed by the applicant: -The Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) OR -The Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE) -ACEN or CCNE program or degree accreditation may also be found under the U.S. Department of Education NOTES:Foreign Education: If you are using foreign education to meet qualification requirements, you must send a Certificate of Foreign Equivalency with your transcript in order to receive credit for that education.
