ABOUT THIS ROLE
<p>This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific eligibility requirements per VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within 4 months of appointment. Program Approval, award amount (up to $200,000) & eligibility period (1 to 5 years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after review of the EDRP application. Former EDRP participants ineligible to apply.</p><h3>Major Duties</h3><p>Major duties and responsibilities of the Physician Assistant (Primary Care) are: Provide comprehensive care for Veterans for a panel of patients or same-day access. Perform initial histories and physical examination on outpatients. Provide ongoing outpatient care for assigned patients. Screen outpatients to determine the need for further care. Prescribe medications within the defined scope of practice. Order diagnostic studies such as laboratory tests, x-rays, electrocardiograms. Review need for and order health promotion and disease prevention measures. Initiate, respond to, and expedite request for consultations, special tests and studies. Provide education and counseling of patients and families in preventative care, medical conditions, and use of prescribed treatments and drugs. VA offers a comprehensive Total Rewards Package. Must pass pre-employment physical examination. Participation in the seasonal influenza vaccination program is a requirement for all Department of Veterans Affairs Health Care Personnel (HCP).
