Registered Nurse (Inpatient-Float Pool)

<p>This Registered Nurse (RN) position is within the Associate Director, Patient Care services at the Bedford VA Healthcare System located in Bedford, MA. It is a permanent position on an intermittent schedule.</p><h3>Major Duties</h3><p>The Inpatient Float Pool RN is assigned to an inpatient nursing unit by the Nurse of the Day (NOD) based on staffing needs in the organization for that shift.. The Float Pool is designed to cover staffing shortages that occur on a day-to-day basis for all Community Living Centers (CLCs) and Mental Health Units. Duties include, but are not limited to: Delivers fundamental knowledge-based care to assigned clients; Assesses, plans, implements, and evaluates care based on age-specific components; Assumes responsibility for the coordination of care focused on patient education, self-management, and customer satisfaction throughout the continuum of care; Administers medications and procedures per established policies and guidelines; Influences care outcomes by collaborating with members of the interdisciplinary team; Determines the appropriate delegation of tasks consistent with the nurse's obligation to provide optimal care; Formulates a plan of care based on nursing assessments; Delegates elements of care to the appropriate individual based upon assessed needs, condition, and safety of the patient; and Performs other duties as assigned.
