<p>This Registered Nurse (RN) position is within the Associate Director, Patient Care services at the Bedford VA Healthcare System located in Bedford, MA. It is a permanent position on an intermittent schedule.</p><h3>Major Duties</h3><p>The Inpatient Float Pool RN is assigned to an inpatient nursing unit by the Nurse of the Day (NOD) based on staffing needs in the organization for that shift.. The Float Pool is designed to cover staffing shortages that occur on a day-to-day basis for all Community Living Centers (CLCs) and Mental Health Units. Duties include, but are not limited to: Delivers fundamental knowledge-based care to assigned clients; Assesses, plans, implements, and evaluates care based on age-specific components; Assumes responsibility for the coordination of care focused on patient education, self-management, and customer satisfaction throughout the continuum of care; Administers medications and procedures per established policies and guidelines; Influences care outcomes by collaborating with members of the interdisciplinary team; Determines the appropriate delegation of tasks consistent with the nurse's obligation to provide optimal care; Formulates a plan of care based on nursing assessments; Delegates elements of care to the appropriate individual based upon assessed needs, condition, and safety of the patient; and Performs other duties as assigned. The Bedford VA Healthcare System is a 24/7 facility including weekends and holidays. Telework: Not available. Virtual: This is not a virtual position. The SF-50 must identify the position title, series, grade, step, tenure and type of service (Competitive or Excepted). In some cases, more than one SF-50 may be required to show a higher grade previously held.</p><h3>Requirements</h3>U.S. Citizenship; non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy. All applicants tentatively selected for VA employment in a testing designated position are subject to urinalysis to screen for illegal drug use prior to appointment. Applicants who refuse to be tested will be denied employment with VA. Selective Service Registration is required for males born after 12/31/1959. Subject to background/security investigation. Participation in the seasonal influenza vaccination program is a requirement for all Department of Veterans Affairs Health Care Personnel (HCP). You may be required to serve a probationary period. The Associate Degree Nursing (ADN), Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing (BSN), or Master of Science degree in Nursing (MSN) must be fully accredited by the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) or the Commission On Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE). If your school has changed names, or is no longer in existence, you must provide this information in your application.- If your school was accredited by ACEN or CCNE at the time of graduation, but is no longer listed on the websites, you must provide documentation of accreditation with your application packet.
