Responsible and accountable for all elements of the nursing process in direct patient care supervision. Coordinates care focused on patient education, self-management, and customer satisfaction. Administers medications and procedures per established policies and guidelines. Influences care outcomes through interdisciplinary collaboration. Actively participates in unit/program level quality improvement processes and customer service programs. Functions or Scope of Assigned Duties Provides competent, evidence-based care to patients in the ED. Delegates and supervises basic nursing care of licensed practical nurses and unlicensed assistive personnel. Assists in directing nursing education, orientation, competencies, and quality improvement. Provides urgent and emergent care for acute and chronic medical, surgical, and psychiatric conditions. Practices emergency nursing independently and collaboratively, including roles as care provider, educator, administrator, researcher, consultant, leader, and advocate. Continuously evaluates practice based on best evidence, providing constructive feedback to peers. Contributes nursing perspectives to interdisciplinary team discussions for optimal outcomes. Supports colleagues by sharing knowledge to ensure safe, quality nursing care. Engages in evidence-based-practice culture activities and strategies. Assesses patients, prioritizes care using a five-level triage system, and develops individualized care plans. Implements care plans, including care coordination, health teaching, and promotion, and adjusts plans as necessary to achieve expected outcomes.
