In this vital role, you will be at the forefront of providing exceptional care to our Veteran population. You will be responsible for delivering quality nursing care, influencing positive patient outcomes, and collaborating with a dedicated interdisciplinary team. Responsible and accountable for all elements of the nursing process in direct patient care supervision. Coordinates care focused on patient education, self-management, and customer satisfaction. Administers medications and procedures per established policies and guidelines. Influences care outcomes through interdisciplinary collaboration. Actively participates in unit/program level quality improvement processes and customer service programs. Functions or Scope of Assigned Duties Provides competent, evidence-based care to patients in the ED. Delegates and supervises basic nursing care of licensed practical nurses and unlicensed assistive personnel. Assists in directing nursing education, orientation, competencies, and quality improvement. Provides urgent and emergent care for acute and chronic medical, surgical, and psychiatric conditions. Practices emergency nursing independently and collaboratively, including roles as care provider, educator, administrator, researcher, consultant, leader, and advocate. Continuously evaluates practice based on best evidence, providing constructive feedback to peers. Contributes nursing perspectives to interdisciplinary team discussions for optimal outcomes. Supports colleagues by sharing knowledge to ensure safe, quality nursing care. Engages in evidence-based-practice culture activities and strategies. Assesses patients, prioritizes care using a five-level triage system, and develops individualized care plans. Implements care plans, including care coordination, health teaching, and promotion, and adjusts plans as necessary to achieve expected outcomes. Permanent Change of Station (PCS): Not authorized.</p><h3>Requirements</h3>U.S. Citizenship; non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy. All applicants tentatively selected for VA employment in a testing designated position are subject to urinalysis to screen for illegal drug use prior to appointment. Applicants who refuse to be tested will be denied employment with VA. Selective Service Registration is required for males born after 12/31/1959. Subject to background/security investigation. Must pass pre-employment physical examination. Participation in the seasonal influenza vaccination program is a requirement for all Department of Veterans Affairs Health Care Personnel (HCP). You may be required to serve a probationary period.
