ABOUT THIS ROLE
<p>This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific eligibility requirements per VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Program Approval, award amount (up to $200,000) & eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after review of the EDRP application. Former EDRP participants ineligible to apply.</p><h3>Major Duties</h3><p>The Registered Nurse - Community Living Center delivers fundamental, knowledge-based care to assigned clients. The Registered Nurse (RN) assesses, plans, implements, and evaluates care based on age-specific components. This role coordinates care focused on patient education and satisfaction, while administering medications. The RN influences outcomes by collaborating with an interdisciplinary team to provide optimal, patient-driven support. Major duties include, but are not limited to: Gathers systematic data, assesses, and uses appropriate nursing judgment to evaluate actual or potential health problems. Provides care supportive to life and well-being, including health teaching and counseling. Executes medical regimes, including administering medications and treatments prescribed by a legally authorized provider. Provides physical and mental care that is age-appropriate, culturally, ethnically, and spiritually sensitive. Educates older adults and families about chronic illness, mental health care, and available treatment options. Coordinates care among caregivers and actively participates in quality care improvement activities. Engages in shared decision-making to promote a shared governance environment on the unit. Serves in rotational charge nurse coverage, directing team leads and team members in the provision of patient care. Creates daily assignments for staff across all shifts, ensuring consistency with appropriate staffing levels. Attends interdisciplinary team rounds, participates in shift huddles, and acts as a direct point of contact for medical providers.
