By educating, advocating, and coordinating care, nurses empower Veterans and their families, making a meaningful impact on health and well-being every day.</p><h3>Major Duties</h3><p>The VA Midwest Health Care Network advocates for a Whole Health System of care in each of the Medical Centers. This is an approach to healthcare that empowers and equips people to take charge of their health and well-being and live their lives to the fullest. As an employee operating in a Whole Health System of care, you will operate in a model with three core elements, seeking to create a personalized health plan for each Veteran. This is done in the context of healing relationships and healing environments and a connection back to the Veteran's community. Major duties include, but are not limited to: Providing and supervising direct patient care using the nursing process. Coordinating care focused on patient education, self-management, and satisfaction. Administering medications and assisting in procedures per established policies. Collaborating with interdisciplinary teams to influence care outcomes. Delivering and managing care for patients undergoing cardiac procedures. Assessing physical and mental status, educating on procedural care, and documenting responses. Maintaining proficiency in cardiology equipment maintenance, cleaning, and preparation. Initiating appropriate emergency responses and adapting to schedule changes. Providing informal feedback and fostering a supportive environment for healthcare professionals. Integrating evidence-based practice with clinical expertise and participating in quality improvement initiatives.
