Practical Nurse

<p>About the Position: Serves as a Licensed Practical Nurse within Lyster Army Medical Treatment Facility (MTF) located within the Primary Care Clinic, Fort Rucker, AL. This is an open continuous announcement. This is a Direct Hire Solicitation.</p><h3>Major Duties</h3><p>Obtain all vital signs such as: blood pressure, temperature, pulse, respirations, pain level, height, weight, measurement of head circumference, and length; and perform behavioral health screenings.</p><p>Provide individualized nursing care to patients based upon the physician’s medical care plan, the nursing assessment, and the physical, mental, and emotional needs of the patient.</p><p>Obtain intravenous (IV) access, and prepare medications and immunizations for administration.</p><p>Review immunization records and unit Standard Operating Procedures to select required immunizations, correct dosages, and routes of administration.</p><p>Administer oral, intradermal, subcutaneous, intramuscular immunizations to all age groups via established protocols.</p><p>Educate patients and/or family regarding self-care procedures and documents teaching.</p><p>Instruct patients and/or family regarding normal verses adverse reactions to immunizations and treatment for normal reactions of discomfort.</p><p>Review laboratory results and bring abnormal results to attention of physician.</p><p>Document patients' chief complaints and other pertinent information in the health record.</p><h3>Education</h3>Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify.
