Practical Nurse (Outpatient)

<p>About the Position: This position is with the Defense Health Agency. Positions are located within the Directorate of Surgery and Directorate of Medicine at the Dwight D. Eisenhower Army Medical Center at Fort Gordon in Augusta, Georgia. The Licensed Practical/Vocational primary purpose is to provide routine and specialized care to patients with increased independence and responsibility in various clinic settings. This is an open continuous announcement. This is a Direct Hire Solicitation</p><h3>Major Duties</h3><p>Obtain all vital signs such as: blood pressure, temperature, pulse, respirations, pain level, height, weight, measurement of head circumference, and length; and perform behavioral health screenings.</p><p>Provide individualized nursing care to patients based upon the physician’s medical care plan, the nursing assessment, and the physical, mental, and emotional needs of the patient.</p><p>Obtain intravenous (IV) access, and prepare medications and immunizations for administration.</p><p>Review immunization records and unit Standard Operating Procedures to select required immunizations, correct dosages, and routes of administration.</p><p>Administer oral, intradermal, subcutaneous, intramuscular immunizations to all age groups via established protocols.</p><p>Educate patients and/or family regarding self-care procedures and documents teaching.</p><p>Instruct patients and/or family regarding normal verses adverse reactions to immunizations and treatment for normal reactions of discomfort.</p><p>Review laboratory results and bring abnormal results to attention of physician.</p><p>Document patients' chief complaints and other pertinent information in the health record.</p><h3>Education</h3>Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify.
