ABOUT THIS ROLE
<p>About the Position: This position is with Tripler Army Medical Center (TAMC) in the Directorate of Medicine Department of Medicine Neurology Service in Honolulu, Hawaii. This is an open continuous announcement. We accept applications on an ongoing basis; qualified applicants will be considered as vacancies become available. Federal Tort Claims Act (28 U.S.C. § 1346(b)).</p><h3>Major Duties</h3><p>Serve as a physician specialized in neurological practice in the Neurology Clinic and as Neurology consultant to the Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI).</p><p>Responsible for the examination, diagnosis and treatment of the full range of outpatients seen in various clinics.</p><p>Provide evaluation and management of a wide range of neurologic disorders and diseases with a focus on return to military duty.</p><p>Examine patients, order and evaluate the full range of tests to include electrophysiology, radiological and laboratory tests, makes diagnosis and prescribes appropriate treatments to include drugs, or behavioral modalities.</p><p>Provide prescription renewal, telephone and e-mail consultative services.</p><p>Communicate with patients, referring physicians and back to the appropriate primary care manager for management of disorders outside the specialty of Neurology.</p><p>Provide recommendations or definitive evaluation for neurology problems in the referral region through phone consultation, telemedicine, and authorization and evaluation of air evacuation patients as appropriate.</p><p>Evaluate and treat patients with multiple complicated problems who were screened and referred by the Emergency Department for urgent or emergent neurologic issues.</p><p>Oversee other health care providers (nurse practitioners, physician assistants, medical students, interns, residents, and fellows).</p><p>Provide chart review for quality assurance purposes in the area of neurology on an occasional basis.</p><p>Board certification in the specialty of the position to be filled (Neurology) is preferred.</p><h3>Education</h3>FOREIGN EDUCATION: If you are using education completed in foreign colleges or universities to meet the qualification requirements, you must show the education credentials have been evaluated by a private organization that specializes in interpretation of foreign education programs and such education has been deemed equivalent to that gained in an accredited U.S. education program; or full credit has been given for the courses at a U.S. accredited college or university.
