ABOUT THIS ROLE
<p>About the Position: This position is with Tripler Army Medical Center (TAMC) in the Directorate of Medicine Department of Internal Medicine in Honolulu, Hawaii. This is an open continuous announcement. We accept applications on an ongoing basis; qualified applicants will be considered as vacancies become available. Federal Tort Claims Act (28 U.S.C. § 1346(b)).</p><h3>Major Duties</h3><p>Serve as the day/night/weekend Physician (Hospitalist) for Inpatient Medicine and assists in an outpatient clinic of a Medical Treatment Facility (MTF), as needed.</p><p>Perform highly responsible duties in the advanced examination, diagnosis and treatment of inpatients for the Internal Medicine Service.</p><p>Evaluate laboratory and clinical findings; differentiating among the various contributory causes and prescribes appropriate treatment.</p><p>Follow through on cases to ensure effectiveness and alters course of treatment as indicated.</p><p>Collaborate with specialists in other areas on cases involving interrelated problems.</p><p>Serve as the attending physician and admits and discharges patients to the Medical Wards and Step-Down units.</p><p>Treat patients including age ranges from young adult to geriatric.</p><p>Work closely with the MTF's primary care providers, military consultants and civilian consultants in the local community.</p><p>Attend key medical meetings and conferences and serve as a subject-matter expert on areas of inpatient medicine.</p><p>Serve as academic faculty and facilitates teaching and training of trainees.</p><p>Plan, schedule, assign and direct the work of others; establishes work priorities and deadlines; explains work requirements, methods and procedures: as needed; and reviews work upon completion.</p><p>Establish standards of performance and evaluates performance of students and residents.</p><h3>Education</h3>FOREIGN EDUCATION: If you are using education completed in foreign colleges or universities to meet the qualification requirements, you must show the education credentials have been evaluated by a private organization that specializes in interpretation of foreign education programs and such education has been deemed equivalent to that gained in an accredited U.S. education program; or full credit has been given for the courses at a U.S. accredited college or university.
