Physician Assistant (Orthopedic)

<p>About the Position: This position is with Evans Army Community Hospital, Directorate of Surgery, Orthopedic Service at Fort Carson, CO 80913. This is a Direct Hire Solicitation A recruitment or relocation incentive may be authorized. Salary negotiation may be available for those candidates who are new to Federal service. Student Loan repayment may be authorized. Non-Federal work experience may be creditable for leave purposes.</p><h3>Major Duties</h3><p>Assess, plan, evaluate and modify the plan of acute and chronically ill patients.</p><p>Collect a detailed and comprehensive medical history from the patient to perform clinical evaluations and provide recommendations.</p><p>Examine adult patients and perform initial patient work-up and assessment of patients' care and treatment.</p><p>Determine the need for and order laboratory tests, X-rays and other procedures necessary to complete assessment of the patient.</p><p>Write prescriptions, order the administration of medications, dispense medication and prescribe controlled substances in accordance with scope of practice for Physician Assistants.</p><p>Perform physical examinations such as military schools, employment, sports, annual, retirement, discharge, reenlistment, disability separation or retirement, and other special physicals.</p><p>Provide consultation, teaching and coordination with patients regarding treatment and medical care.</p><p>Provide counseling to patients for prevention of illness and maintenance of health to assist patients in attaining physical, mental, and social well-being.</p><h3>Education</h3>FOREIGN EDUCATION: If you are using education completed in foreign colleges or universities to meet the qualification requirements, you must show the education credentials have been evaluated by a private organization that specializes in interpretation of foreign education programs and such education has been deemed equivalent to that gained in an accredited U.S. education program; or full credit has been given for the courses at a U.S. accredited college or university.
