<p>This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific eligibility requirements per VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Program Approval, award amount (up to $200,000) & eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after review of the EDRP application. Former EDRP participants ineligible to apply.</p><h3>Major Duties</h3><p>Responsible and accountable for all elements of the nursing process when providing and/or supervising direct patient care. Assesses, plans, implements, and evaluates care based on age specific components. Assumes responsibility for the coordination of care focused on patient education, self-management, and customer satisfaction throughout the continuum of care. Administers medications and procedures per established policies and guidelines. Influences care outcomes by collaborating with members of the interdisciplinary team. Executes position responsibilities that demonstrate leadership, experience, and creative approaches to management of complex client care. The VA Western Colorado Health Care System (WCHCS) is a Level 3 facility with service-lines serving medical, surgical, neurological, and psychiatric inpatients and outpatients, with a Level III Emergency Department, multiple VA Clinics, and a Community Living Center (CLC). There is a significant outpatient psychiatric population, with admissions for medical co-morbidities. Home-Based Primary Care (HBPC) and telehealth nursing care is also provided. Home-Based Primary Care is provided in the veteran's home The Specialty Care Outpatient Staff Registered Nurse (RN) executes position responsibilities that demonstrate leadership, experience, and creative approaches to management of complex specialty care. This nurse provides patient care, care coordination, health promotion, health education and coaching on wellness, disease prevention, and chronic care management. Collaborates in the development, implementation, evaluation, and revision of policies, procedures, and/or guidelines. Demonstrates performance and leadership that is broad enough to improve the care for specialty care outpatients. Provides peers with formal or informal constructive feedback for improvement. Supports colleagues and other nurses through knowledge sharing to provide safe, quality specialty nursing care. Fosters a safe and supportive environment conducive to the professional development of health care professionals. Evaluates outcomes of evidence-based decisions and practice changes for individuals, groups, and populations. Responsible for the documented outcomes at the specialty care program or service level. Specialty care program or service level outcomes must be broad and complex and can be demonstrated at any organizational level within a facility. The Ambulatory Surgery Registered Nurse (RN), provides pre-operative/procedural care, including (but not limited to) the nursing assessment of patients, consent, and H&P validations. Confirms surgical sites are prepared and marked, and the administration of medications as ordered. Provides clear and concise preoperative teaching and reviews discharge instructions to patients and families with written and verbal communication. The Ambulatory RN maintains knowledge of current American Society of Peri Anesthesia Nurses (ASPAN) standards, VHA Directive and service level standard operating procedures. Learn more Permanent Change of Station (PCS): Not Authorized</p><h3>Requirements</h3>The idea candidate will have significant experience in wound care, which is the top priority for this position. Additional experience in outpatient nursing and specialty care nursing; including, but not limited to, pain management, orthopedics, and general surgery is highly desirable. Experience in managing clinics and providing patient care in an ambulatory care setting is strongly preferred. The incumbent will also provide services across multiple ambulatory care clinics, utilizing advanced expertise in wound management. Possession of advanced certification(s) in wound care is required for this position. Candidates must provide documentation of current advanced wound care certification as part of their application materials. Demonstrate possession of multiple advanced wound care certifications, comprehensive knowledge of ambulatory care clinic operations, and extensive experience in providing wound care services in both inpatient and outpatient settings. Proven ability to effectively perform clinical duties. U.S. Citizenship; non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy.
