<p>Position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific eligibility requirements per VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Former EDRP participants ineligible to apply.</p><h3>Major Duties</h3><p>VA Careers - Pharmacy: https://youtube.com/embed/Fn_ickNBEws Serves as Pharmacy Supervisor, Procurement, for the James A Haley Veterans' Hospital and Clinics. Duties Include: Utilize strict accounting practices to maintain an accurate budget. Provide upper management with quarterly, monthly, and often daily updates on budget status. Maintain sufficient inventory for the needs of the Medical Center, yet not exceeding the budget allowance. Incumbent presents upper management on a routine basis: expenditure reports, cost analysis, stock usage, budget forecast, drug shortages, drug recalls, and new product cost impact. Functions as a Contracting Officer's Representative (COR) and prepares contracting requests for Pharmacy Service. Provide clinical judgment in considering cost-effective alternatives within the National Formulary for drug shortages due to backorders or recalls. Collaborate with providers in the respective specialties to determine alternatives for items on long-term shortage. Receiving and verifying correct shipment of pharmaceuticals. The incumbent must make immediate reconciliation for incorrect shipments and coordinate a correction with the vendor. Serves as liaison between Acquisition and Materiel Management Service, Fiscal Service, and Pharmacy. Serves on committees as assigned by the Chief of Pharmacy. Clinical Reviews the patient's medication profile before dispensing medications. Screens drug profiles for normal dosing range and drug interactions, recognizing the special drug considerations of the age and stage of life of the patient. Reviews polyprescriptions for drug synergism and duplication. Consults with prescribers on the course of action when indicated. Counsels patients and family members concerning directions for use, side effects, precautions, and the need to strictly follow the regimen. Monitors patient profiles and ensures contained information is correct and up to date, including any history of drug interactions. Provides consultation to MD's, DO's, DPM's, OD's, PA's, FNP's and other health professionals on basic information about drug therapy. Makes suggestions to aid in the selection of substitute medication when those requested are not available or when a more cost-effective approach appears appropriate.
