ABOUT THIS ROLE

<p>The Nurse Recruiter is a highly visible, accessible nurse leader who provides direct support for Nurse Recruitment and Retention across the VA Palo Alto Health Care System (VAPAHCS). This includes screening, interviewing, credentialing, boarding and the appointment process of applicants and current employees.</p><h3>Major Duties</h3><p>The incumbent works in collaboration with Nursing Administration, Human Resources, Medical Staff Office and various other services throughout the facility to expedite the hiring, boarding and credentialing process for nurses. He/She is instrumental in recruiting, hiring, retaining and recognizing all levels of nursing staff. The incumbent reports administratively to the Nurse Manager for NRO/Occupational Health Service VA offers a comprehensive total rewards package: VA Nurse Total Rewards Pay: Competitive salary, regular salary increases, potential for performance awards Paid Time Off: 50 days of paid time off per year (26 days of annual leave, 13 days of sick leave, 11 paid Federal holidays per year) Retirement: Traditional federal pension (5 years vesting) and federal 401K with up to 5% in contributions by VA Insurance: Federal health/vision/dental/term life/long-term care (many federal insurance programs can be carried into retirement) Licensure: 1 full and unrestricted license from any US State or territory The major duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Collaborates with all Services throughout the VAPAHCS who employ nurses and Human Resources Management Service to recruit and hire all levels of nursing staff throughout the facility including providing input in development of functional statements, screening, interviewing, credentialing, boarding and the appointment process of Title 38 and Hybrid Title 38 nursing staff. Works collaboratively with all services with nursing staff to assess and forecast staffing needs and to implement measures to meet these needs and evaluate the effectiveness of the changes implemented. Electronically tracks variety of data, analyzes and prepares written and oral reports for presentations to a varied audience such as staff nurses, managers, Chiefs, Associate Director Patient Care Services, the Director, and outside agencies as requested. Acts as consultant/educator and serves as facility resource for NPSB, LVN and CNA salary determination, hiring processes and Staffing Office processes. Oversees the effective operation of the Nurse Professional Standards Board. Collaborates with Medical Staffing Office in VetPro credentialing process for RNs, LVNs, RNPs, and Advanced Practice Nurses with scope of practice. Acts as a change agent, fosters and demonstrates innovative and creative approaches to problem solving and process improvement in collaboration with team. Ability to convey information clearly to staff at various levels from novice to expert. Collaborates with the Nursing Service Administrative Officer and Human Resources Management Services to ensure compliance with service wide budgeted FTE. Works with Human Resources to advertise nursing vacancies using a variety of creative approaches including but not limited to job fairs. Communicates with applicants using a variety of measures, i.e. in-person, phone, fax, e-mail and letter correspondence regarding vacancies, qualifications, benefits and the appointment process. Collaborates with the ACNS (Associate Chief Nursing Service) Clinical Practice and Professional Development to facilitate placement and retention of new RN graduates and in the planning, implementation and evaluation of programs such as VALOR, SNT and New Grad. Collaborates with OWCP (Office of Worker's Compensation Program) Case Manager to facilitate placement of nursing staff. Works collaboratively with the Vetpro credentialing office, Human Resources Personnel Security Office, Contracting Officers, and various agencies to expedite the on-boarding and credentialing of all contract nursing staff, including review of health documents, facilitating security and privacy requirements for badge and education and orientation to hospital policies/procedures Work Schedule: 0730-1600 Compressed/Flexible: Not available Telework: Not available Relocation/Recruitment Incentives: Not authorized Permanent Change of Station (PCS): Not authorize</p><h3>Requirements</h3>U.S. Citizenship; non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy.
