ABOUT THIS ROLE
<p>This Rolla Community Based Outpatient Clinic (CBOC) Nurse Manager position is located in St. James, MO until our new facility in Rolla, MO begins installing equipment in late 2026. Training for this position will occur at adjacent CBOCs and the Truman VA Hospital campus in Columbia, MO until new facility is operational. Travel is expected to other CBOCs and potentially to the main Truman facility in Columbia, MO.</p><h3>Major Duties</h3><p>General Description of Assigned Duties: Functions as a clinical expert and is responsible and accountable for all elements of the nursing process when providing or supervising direct patient care. Assesses, plans, implements, and evaluates delivery of care based on age specific components. Assumes responsibility for the coordination of care focused on patient education, self-management, and customer satisfaction throughout the continuum of care. They demonstrate sound decision-making and judgment and possess excellent interpersonal skills. They are self-directed and able to influence care outcomes by collaborating with members of the interdisciplinary team and leading innovative process improvement initiatives. Executes position responsibilities that demonstrate leadership, experience, and creative approaches to management of complex client care. Functions or Scope of Assigned Duties The Nurse Manager (NM) is the designated first-line supervisory authority for nursing staff and is responsible and accountable for the operation of the assigned units. This NM will be primarily responsible for the new Community Based Outpatient Clinic in Rolla, MO. This will include oversight for Primary Care Nursing and Specialty Care Nursing. The NM provides coverage for other NMs as needed. This position requires flexibility in schedule and assignments with the potential to travel to other Community Based Outpatient Clinics and/or the VA Medical Center in Columbia, MO on occasional basis. The NM is responsible and accountable for the direction and supervision of nursing staff to include orientation, training, development and evaluation of individual performance. They function as a role model, educator, clinical practitioner, and supervisor in providing leadership to the team. They influence care outcomes by collaborating with members of the interdisciplinary team to remove barriers and implement efficient and evidence-based processes. The NM maintains knowledge and ensures compliance with all regulatory and accreditation standards, Directives, policies, and standard operating procedures (SOP). Provides peers with informal constructive feedback for improvement. Supports colleagues and other nurses through knowledge sharing to provide safe, quality nursing care. Fosters a safe and supportive environment conducive to the professional development of healthcare professionals. Contributes professional nursing perspective in discussions with the interdisciplinary team. Partners with others to effect change and produce optimal outcomes. Evaluates outcomes of evidence-based decisions and practice changes for individuals, groups, and populations. Responsible for the documented outcomes at the program or service level. Program or service level outcomes must be broad and complex and can be demonstrated at any organizational level within a facility.
