Nurse (Labor and Delivery)

<p>About the Position: Incumbent serves as a Nurse (Labor & Delivery) within Portsmouth Naval Medical Center OB/GYN IP Ward LD. This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Personnel of the DoD to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service.</p><h3>Major Duties</h3><p>Administer and monitor oxygen therapy and utilize intensive pulmonary care techniques as needed.</p><p>Respond decisively to changes in maternal/fetal conditions, assist in providing immediate and appropriate measures according to Advanced Life Support in Obstetrics (ALSO) and Neonatal Resuscitation (NRP) certification protocols.</p><p>Plan, direct, and coordinate total patient care activities and foster multi-disciplinary involvement by other intra and interdepartmental services.</p><p>Initiate and coordinate regular periodic Patient Care Conferences. Function as the primary liaison and advocate for patient and family using appropriate crisis intervention techniques.</p><p>Participate in the orientation and training of newly assigned unit personnel. Participate in cross training initiatives</p><h3>Education</h3>FOREIGN EDUCATION: If you are using education completed in foreign colleges or universities to meet the qualification requirements, you must show the education credentials have been evaluated by a private organization that specializes in interpretation of foreign education programs and such education has been deemed equivalent to that gained in an accredited U.S. education program; or full credit has been given for the courses at a U.S. accredited college or university.
