ABOUT THIS ROLE
<p>The Activations Coordinator Nurse serves as a strategic leader who leverages innovative and collaborative approaches to support nursing operations. This role provides comprehensive oversight of all activation phases affecting nursing services, ensuring alignment with organizational priorities, regulatory requirements, and optimal patient care outcomes.</p><h3>Major Duties</h3><p>The Activations Coordinator Nurse duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to the following: Provides leadership, responsibility and accountability for all phases of activation planning for new construction, renovation, expansion or reconfiguration of clinical and administrative areas. Participation in early strategic planning, business case development, financial and capital planning discussions and alignment with organizational growth initiatives. Collaborates with Executive Leadership, Clinical Services, Facilities Management, Engineering, Logistics and other key stakeholders to ensure activation efforts reflect operational, regulatory and patient care requirements. Serves as the central communication and coordination point for Nursing Service for activation initiatives, maintaining structured project documentation, tracking milestones, escalating risks and providing executive level updates as needed. Works closely with the Strategic Planner, the Clinical Assets Coordinator, as well as the Design Team, and serves as a member of designated facility level committees/councils applicable to strategic planning and activation. Travel will be required to meet with Leadership Teams and stakeholders at existing sites of care as well as new and potential sites of care. Provides clinical input into space planning, workflow design, environmental considerations, furniture, fixtures, equipment and infrastructure planning to support safe and efficient care delivery. Partners with construction and project management teams to align scheduling, phasing and transition planning activities to minimize operational disruption. Oversees comprehensive operational readiness planning, including equipment and technology integration, staffing alignment, policy and procedure development, regulatory preparedness and safety compliance. Directs and coordinates move in activities, validates space functionality, supports frontline staff during implementation, and ensures timely resolution of operational issues. During the post activation period, conducts focused stabilization activities, including monitoring initial performance outcomes, resolving early process gaps, and working with leadership to refine workflows and space utilization until full operational stability is achieved. Establishes and sustains effective communication across all levels of medical center personnel and relates effectively with all customers, families, and community agencies, as well as program and service leaders at the local, network and national levels. Contributes ideas and recommendations for the establishment of standards of care, policies, and objectives for the enhancement of the entire Nursing Service in the performance of their current duties, as well as in planning after activation. Assists in policy-making activities as related to customer service and the overall functioning of both existing and new administrative and clinical programs. Collaborates with other health care staff to maintain existing and create new programs that cross service and/or discipline lines and influence organizational mission and overall health care delivery. Collects data, monitors staff compliance with relevant policies, directives, and standards, provides reports detailing trends, and provides direct staff support to all services. Participate in several facility councils, committees, and workgroups. Works in concert with leaders and others to sustain safety, modeling High Reliability Organization (HRO) practices. Performs duties directly contributing to high quality and safe patient care within the Veterans Health Administration (VHA). Directly supports facility leadership in areas of planning, organization, development, direction, and evaluation within the facility. Supports colleagues and other nurses through knowledge sharing to provide safe, quality nursing care.
