Medical Records Technician (OA)

<p>About the Position: Serve as a Medical Records Technician (OA) performing records work concerned with reviewing, analyzing, processing, and maintaining medical records; compiling or extracting medical records data to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements at Naval Medical Center, Portsmouth Virginia. This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Personnel of the DoD to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service.</p><h3>Major Duties</h3><p>Reviews, analyzes, initiates and maintains medical records in accordance with prescribed directives.</p><p>Files results for treatments such as laboratory reports and a variety of medical tests and radiology results.</p><p>Enters information into the record tracking system when paper records are needed for appointments and reviews.</p><p>Follows standard operating procedures to research, analyze and abstract pertinent information from records that may include multiple injuries, diseases and/or medico/surgical procedures and reports findings to requestors.</p><p>Initiates, post charges, and forwards billing statements to appropriate accounting officer for action.</p><p>Uses multiple office automation software with varied functions to produce a wide range of documents and formats.</p><h3>Education</h3>FOREIGN EDUCATION: If you are using education completed in foreign colleges or universities to meet the qualification requirements, you must show the education credentials have been evaluated by a private organization that specializes in interpretation of foreign education programs and such education has been deemed equivalent to that gained in an accredited U.S. education program; or full credit has been given for the courses at a U.S. accredited college or university.
