Licensed Practical Nurse

<p>This position will be located at the North Battlefield VA OPC in Chesapeake and incumbent will work at the Hampton Veterans Affairs Medical Center (HVAMC) until the facility opens. The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) reports to the designated Nurse Manager and is responsible and accountable for the provision of patient care and for delivery of quality nursing care to a culturally diverse veteran patient population.</p><h3>Major Duties</h3><p>Total Rewards of a Allied Health Professional Major duties include, but are not limited to: Performs practical nursing measures with precision and efficiency, consistent with Medical Center Policy and procedure and within legal and ethical responsibilities of his/her licensure as a Licensed Practical Nurse. Demonstrates working practices that include adherence to infection control standards and the safe use and operation of equipment. Seeks guidance from RN and/or provider regarding resolution of clinical issues. Administers medication accurately and promptly under the general supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN). Performs personal care, diagnostic support duties and treatments according to procedure under the direction of the RN in a timely manner. Responds to patient's nursing needs, including physical comfort, and emotional needs and recognizing problems from the normal. Initiate, administer, assess, monitor, and report IV sites, start intravenous fluids and piggyback solutions prepared by Pharmacy. Document care provided. Independently establish priorities and varies the sequence of nursing care based on the patient's conditions and/or response to treatment in or to accomplish assigned tasks with limited supervision by end of tour. May receive a variety of additional assignments or special projects either to meet the needs of the medical center or designed for professional growth of the individual. Performs other duties as assigned. Work Schedule: Monday- Friday, 8:00 - 4:30 pm Pay: Competitive salary and regular salary increases When setting pay, a higher step rate of the appropriate grade may be determined after consideration of higher or unique qualifications or special needs of the VA (Above Minimum Rate of the Grade). Paid Time Off: 37-50 days of annual paid time offer per year (13-26 days of annual leave, 13 days of sick leave, 11 paid Federal holidays per year) Selected applicants may qualify for credit toward annual leave accrual, based on prior [work experience] or military service experience. Parental Leave: After 12 months of employment, up to 12 weeks of paid parental leave in connection with the birth, adoption, or foster care placement of a child. Child Care Subsidy: After 60 days of employment, full time employees with a total family income below $144,000 may be eligible for a childcare subsidy up to 25% of total eligible childcare costs for eligible children up to the monthly maximum of $416.66.
