<p>The Marion VA Health Care System is seeking a full-time Diagnostic Radiologic Technologist (DRT), Computed Tomography (CT). Exams are performed with and without the use of contrast materials. The technologist will also independently perform as a diagnostic radiologic technologist (DRT) responsible for the performance and coordination of all diagnostic radiology examinations and any additional duties appointed by the Imaging Supervisor. The duties associated with this position include, but are not limited to, the following: Independently performs routine and complex computed tomography procedures with and without contrast material according to established protocol, in a safe and professional manner. Independently performs as a diagnostic technologist in the performance and coordination of all diagnostic radiology examinations, within the Imaging Department, critical areas of the hospital and surgical suites. Employee may also be subject to occasional travel and be asked to provide coverage at other satellite locations if needed. The purpose of these exams is to obtain quality diagnostic studies enabling proper diagnosis and treatment Independently performs standard and emergency computed tomography and diagnostic procedures, institutes modifications required to accommodate unusual or difficult patients or disease processes. Performs reconstructions of CT and angiographic studies when requested or when required as part of a standard procedure. Assists in the training of new radiology technologists, students, residents, and other staff to enhancing the personal and professional development of others within the medical service as directed by management. Prepares contrast materials that are used in CT and diagnostic exams. Improper use or administration of the contrast materials run the risk of patient mortality and, therefore, it is essential that the technologist thoroughly understand the use of contrast material. The technologist is certified to insert IV needles for administration of contrast material. Routinely cleans and inspects equipment to insure proper mechanical and electrical administration of the contrast materials run the risk of patient mortality and, therefore, it is essential that the technologist thoroughly understand the use of contrast material. Routinely cleans and inspects equipment to insure proper mechanical and electrical operation and promptly reports any deficiencies to the supervisor. Complies with JCAHO and OSHA standards to avoid exposure and cross contamination by infectious materials. Practices radiation safety to reduce exposure to patients, staff, and self, utilizing lead aprons, lead gloves, lead shields, lead lined walls and collimation. Film badges are worn by the technicians in compliance with radiation regulations. Technologist aprons, reports any irregularities to the Imaging Supervisor and Radiation Safety Officer immediately. Continually reviews new developments in the field of diagnostics and computerized tomography while striving to improve performance, expand knowledge, and facilitate growth and development to the benefit of the employee and the employer. Assists the Imaging Supervisor with the implementation of advances in computed tomography, diagnostics, and workplace modifications. Performs additional duties as assigned. Responsible for stocking and inventory of CT and diagnostic supplies and related materials. Work Schedule: M-F 3:30-11:30p Predominantly; but there may be some requirement to cover other tours as needed. Permanent Change of Station (Relocation Assistance): Not Authorized Pay: Competitive salary and regular salary increases When setting pay, a higher step rate of the appropriate grade may be determined after consideration of higher or unique qualifications or special needs of the VA (Above Minimum Rate of the Grade). Paid Time Off: 37-50 days of annual paid time offer per year (13-26 days of annual leave, 13 days of sick leave, 11 paid Federal holidays per year) Parental Leave: After 12 months of employment, up to 12 weeks of paid parental leave in connection with the birth, adoption, or foster care placement of a child. Child Care Subsidy: After 60 days of employment, full time employees with a total family income below $144,000 may be eligible for a childcare subsidy up to 25% of total eligible childcare costs for eligible children up to the monthly maximum of $416.66.
