ABOUT THIS ROLE
<p>The primary purpose of the License Vocational Nurse is to perform assigned duties in a manner that promotes quality health care, positive customer service and the maintenance of an environment committed to serving the veteran. The LVN also performs assigned duties in a manner that promotes quality health care, outstanding customer service, and the maintenance of an environment committed to serving the veteran.</p><h3>Major Duties</h3><p>Major Duties include but not limited to: Provides direct nursing care to patients for the Medical/Surgical Specialty Clinic. Performs various duties such as: measures vital signs and collects data, enters data into Electronic Health Record (EHR), giving Subcutaneous Injections, Skin Testing, PFT Testing, IM Injections, and educating the patient on various topics related to their allergy May perform EKGs, setting up and placing patients in Holter monitors, and assist with cardiac stress tests. Sets up and assists with minor procedures utilizing sterile technique and is competency verified to set create and maintain a sterile field. Competency verified for sterile gloving, gowning, precleaning RME and performing and participating in time outs to verify right site surgery per policy. Ensures all sterile surgical supplies including reusable medical equipment are stored and maintained at the proper safe parameters for temperature and humidity. Assists the ENT surgeon and monitors patients undergoing specialized treatments. Routinely orders supply and maintains cleanliness/stocking of provider rooms at the end of each clinic day, including sterile instrumentation. Assists with clinic procedures such as toenail clipping, wound debridement, wound care, wound graphs, bone biopsy, measurement for compression stockings, staple removal and any other procedures that may be deemed necessary by the Provider with their scope of practice. Sets up and assists with clinic procedures such as Cystoscopies, Circumcisions and Vasectomies, prostate/bladder biopsies, and Urodynamic Procedures. Assists with clinic laser procedures, takes vital signs, performs Ankle Brachial Index (ABI) exams, and wound care.
