ABOUT THIS ROLE
<p>About the Position: This position is located at Brooke Army Medical Center, Fort Sam Houston, Texas. This is a Direct Hire Solicitation A recruitment or relocation incentive may be authorized. Salary negotiation may be available for those candidates who are new to Federal service. Non-Federal work experience may be creditable for leave purposes.</p><h3>Major Duties</h3><p>Performs the full range of complex radiation therapy treatments and simulations for patients across the lifespan</p><p>Selects and adjusts radiation therapy equipment, accessories, and exposure parameters in accordance with established protocols and ALARA principles.</p><p>Ensures proper patient positioning, immobilization, and monitoring throughout treatment.</p><p>Maintains strict adherence to federal, state, and local regulations governing radiation therapy, radiopharmaceutical handling, and radiation protection</p><p>Conducts quality control checks on therapy equipment and imaging systems to ensure optimal performance and compliance with safety standards.</p><p>Serves as the final technical authority for all radiation therapy procedures, resolving complex technical issues and providing authoritative guidance to physicians, physicists, and other clinical staff.</p><p>Collaborates with supervisors and department heads from Oncology, Surgery, Radiology, Nursing, Quality Management, Safety, and Biomedical Engineering to coordinate patient care and resolve operational issues.</p><p>Manages daily workflow and clinical operations within the radiation therapy area, ensuring efficient coordination of scheduled, walk-in, and emergent procedures.</p><p>Ensures proper maintenance of treatment rooms, crash carts, and clinical supplies. Utilizes multiple hospital information systems to document procedures, manage workload, and maintain accurate patient and operational records.</p><p>Serves as the on-site subject matter expert for radiation therapy practices, equipment operation, and safety protocols.</p><p>Exercises full supervisory responsibilities over assigned staff, including planning and assigning work, coordinating schedules, approving leave, and evaluating performance.</p><p>Develops and delivers training programs to enhance staff competency in radiation therapy techniques, equipment operation, radiation protection, and emergency procedures.</p>
