<p>This position is located in the Administration and Medical Services of the Service Unit. This position works in all clinical areas of the service unit and has direct supervision and delegated responsibilities for all medical related activities. Incumbent is also responsible for providing comprehensive and continuing health and medical care services for patients. A REAL ID will be required beginning May 7, 2025, in accordance with 6 C.F.R. 37.5 (2021).</p><h3>Major Duties</h3><p>Total Compensation Package - Check out IHS's outstanding total compensation package for this job: Physician Total Compensation | Pay (ihs.gov) Works closely with allied health professionals (i.e., Community Health Nurses, Social Workers, Health Educators, Contract Health, and other medical services specialists, etc.) to utilize and coordinate the services of other health care professionals in the management of the patient's medical, psychological and social problems. Assists in assuring that the requirements of Joint Commission and EMTALA Regulations are met. Maintains contact with the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and Human Resources (HR) on the referral of available medical officer candidates. Prepares written plans, recruitment/retention plans, marketing plans, and budget guidelines for operation of an appropriate recruitment program. Establishing, maintaining, and evaluating a comprehensive medical recruitment and retention program utilizing current marketing techniques to retain existing staff while attracting qualified new medical officer 3 personnel to provide clinical services. Assists in organizing and overseeing departmental work scheduling, which includes, but is not limited to daily clinic or operating assignments, field clinic assignments, monthly call schedule, etc. Assist in organizing, evaluating and planning all departmental programs and reports to administration on a monthly basis.</p><h3>Requirements</h3>Selectee may be subject to a probationary/trial period U.S. Citizenship is required Selective Service Registration is required for males born after 12/31/1959 Board Certification: Failure to provide verification documentation may result in the withdrawal of an employment offer, up to disciplinary and/or adverse action to include termination of Federal employment.
