<p>Incumbent serves as supervisor and technical expert for the Release of Information Unit at Carl Vinson VA Medical Center in Business Office. Provides guidance and suggestions to the Chief, HIM and Assistant, Chief HIM regarding staffing needs and shortages within the ROI section.</p><h3>Major Duties</h3><p>Total Rewards of a Allied Health Professional Major duties include, but are not limited to: Serves as supervisor and technical expert for ROI. Provides guidance and suggestions to the Chief, HIM and Assistant Chief regarding staffing needs and shortages. Provides effective audits and monitors for all areas of responsibility, assuring that accurate and timely data is processed by all employees. Develops performance standards and conducts performance evaluations. Interviews new employees, recommends selection, and carries out training and development of assignments, awards or disciplinary action. Prepares formal requests and recommendations for promotions, reassignments, other status changes, or recognition of outstanding performance or assigned employees. Ensures that release of information and health information technician activities related to the development, implementation, maintenance of and adherence to privacy policies and procedures are performed and coordinated in compliance with applicable federal laws and regulations including the Privacy Act of 1974, the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA), the Healthcare Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) and Automated Medical Information Exchange (AMIE). Ensure that record retrieval, record transfers, transcription uploads, and record reviews facilitate with other facilities for the purposes of continuity of patient care and relapse of information are timely. Maintains contact with VA Regional Counsel (VARO) in all matters related to malpractice, subpoena actions and request for preparation of TORT records. Assist in performing 100% quality review of all TORT cases prior to sending records to VARO for litigation. Prepares weekly ROI and TORT record turnaround statistics. Monitors workload and production of staff, acting where necessary to meet deadlines, monitors/evaluate performance and ensures accuracy of work completed. Assure that the work of staff is at an appropriate quality and productivity level. Work Schedule: Monday through Friday, 8:00am to 4:30pm Recruitment Incentive (Sign-on Bonus): Not authorized Permanent Change of Station (Relocation Assistance): Not authorized Pay: Competitive salary and regular salary increases When setting pay, a higher step rate of the appropriate grade may be determined after consideration of higher or unique qualifications or special needs of the VA (Above Minimum Rate of the Grade). Paid Time Off: 37-50 days of annual paid time offer per year (13-26 days of annual leave, 13 days of sick leave, 11 paid Federal holidays per year) Selected applicants may qualify for credit toward annual leave accrual, based on prior [work experience] or military service experience. Parental Leave: After 12 months of employment, up to 12 weeks of paid parental leave in connection with the birth, adoption, or foster care placement of a child. Child Care Subsidy: After 60 days of employment, full time employees with a total family income below $144,000 may be eligible for a childcare subsidy up to 25% of total eligible childcare costs for eligible children up to the monthly maximum of $416.66. Retirement: Traditional federal pension (5 years vesting) and federal 401K with up to 5% in contributions by VA Insurance: Federal health/vision/dental/term life/long-term care (many federal insurance programs can be carried into retirement) Telework: Not Available Virtual: This is not a virtual position.
