<p>About the Position: This position is located at Brooke Army Medical Center, Fort Sam Houston, Texas. A recruitment or relocation incentive may be authorized. Salary negotiation may be available for those candidates who are new to Federal service. This is a Direct Hire Solicitation</p><h3>Major Duties</h3><p>Supervises Health Information Management (HIM) personnel and provides communication and guidance to administrative, medical, and professional staff.</p><p>Advises on all phases of health information management, including health record management, coding, auditing, release of information, record analysis, documentation integrity, reporting, and regulatory compliance.</p><p>Oversees maintenance, accuracy, correction, analysis, and completion of the electronic health record to ensure compliance with regulatory guidance, accreditation standards, and documentation requirements.</p><p>Ensures periodic audits of medical records for documentation accuracy, coding quality, deficiencies, and compliance with applicable standards.</p><p>Oversees the release of information process, retirement and accountability of medical records, and scanning of outside documentation into MHS GENESIS.</p><p>Ensures timely completion of inpatient and outpatient encounters in accordance with The Joint Commission standards and DHA guidance.</p><p>Tracks workload, productivity, and performance metrics across all HIM functions.</p><p>Prepares reports, briefings, slides, spreadsheets, and statistical analyses for division and MTF senior leadership.</p><p>Provides executive-level updates on HIM Branch status, risks, trends, and performance.</p><p>Manages ATAAPS and DMRSHI functions.</p><p>Maintains broad knowledge of all aspects of health information management operations and documentation standards.</p>
