<p>The Supervisory Diagnostic Radiologic Technologist (DRT) will serve as the Chief Radiologic Technologist at the Detroit VA Medical Center. The incumbent will have full responsibility for technical aspects and patient care functions within the general radiography, CT, MRI, Ultrasound, and Interventional Radiology. The incumbent has direct supervisory responsibility over the technologist and subordinate staff in the Nuclear Medicine Section.</p><h3>Major Duties</h3><p>Duties include but are not limited to the following: Analyze and evaluate workload, productivity, work distribution, staffing patterns, and make and implement major managerial recommendations to improve the quality and productivity of the Diagnostic Radiology, Cat Scan (CT), Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI), Ultrasound and Interventional Radiology (IR). Will provide the same data for Nuclear Medicine and Radiation Oncology sections when requested by the IPA. Oversee expenditures for Diagnostic, and Interventional Radiology fund control points, monitor required records and supporting documentation for all fund control accounts in the sections. Evaluate compliance with all inspecting and accrediting agencies for the Diagnostic and Interventional Radiology sections, identify potential violations, and work with staff to create resolutions. Performs EHR and Radiology Information Systems (RIS) and PACS duties, as well as Voice Recognition administrator duties within the TDI Service and coordinates support throughout the Medical Center. Provides first line technical support for image transmission of display errors related to modalities, Vista interface, display workstations, and printers. Identifies and determines training priorities, conducts and administers training programs, develops and improves training guidance. Assists the Chief of TDI Service in assessment and procurement of new equipment. Identifies problems, gathers data, performs analysis, and proposes solutions to problems and barriers to establishment of an efficient, cost-effective filmless radiology environment. Plans, installs, test and implements PACS and related systems including application systems, networking interface software, and system administrative software. Defines and documents routine maintenance and downtime procedures to minimize downtime. Incumbent monitors one or more Local Area Network (LAN) systems for PACS, ensuring that PACs network (LAN) systems are properly designed, maintained and operated to meet local and national standards. Incumbent provides in-house technical expertise for the resolution of technical problems with LAN resources and serves as a focal point for computed imaging support within the Medical Center. Incumbent is responsible for the local planning, development and execution of procedures for backing up operating systems, applications, and data on the PACS network. In conjunction with ITOPS and HTM/BME, maintains a list of all Voice Recognition (VR) imaging devices and records network address information as required, and physical location. Performs daily support in VR operations. Plans, installs, tests, and implements VR systems including application systems, networking interface software, and system administrative software. Supports and participates in the implementation of a PACS Wide Area Network (WAN) system and applications upon its development. Responsible for the technical quality, quantity, and timeliness of work produced by subordinates. Interviews, recommends appointments, promotions, and reassignments involving candidates for positions. Hears and resolves complaints. Effects minor disciplinary measures such as counseling, admonishment, and reprimand. Other duties as assigned.
