<p>This Supervisory Diagnostic Radiologic Technologist (DRT), position is assigned to Diagnostic Imaging at VA Southern Nevada Healthcare System. . This position is responsible for both administrative and clinical duties, performing management functions approximately 40% of the time and clinical imaging studies the remaining 60%. The incumbent oversees daily workflow, maintains proper staffing levels, coordinates leave and schedules, and ensures efficient, high-quality service delivery.</p><h3>Major Duties</h3><p>The X-ray Supervisor serves as the first-line supervisor for a team of Diagnostic Radiologic Technologists (DRTs) and support staff at the GS-9 level and below within the VA Southern Nevada Healthcare System, encompassing the North Las Vegas VA Medical Center and four Primary Care Clinics. Duties: Major duties includes but not limited too: Ability to analyze organizational, technical, and administrative problems and to develop and implement solutions that result in efficient section operation. Ability to evaluate quality management procedures and processes. Ability to analyze and use data effectively to manage workload, quality, performance, and productivity. Skill in developing new policies and guidelines as needed. Skill in problem solving and conflict resolution. The incumbent, personally and through subordinate supervisors, oversees, plans, and develops the patient care and technical aspects of Diagnostic Imaging Service to assure that provision of optimum patient care, quality control, and the economically efficient performance of the service. The incumbent has a significant role in designing long range plans for the service, including construction, new equipment, developing policies and standard operating procedures, and recruitment of technical personnel, as well as projecting the future of the Medical Center and clinics as they relate to patient care. The incumbent supervises a group of employees composed of General Radiology Technologists and all other areas as assigned. Provides administrative and technical supervision necessary for accomplishing the work of the program segments assigned. The incumbent reports directly to the Radiology Chief Technologist. Performs the administrative and personnel management functions relative to staff supervised. Must be available to medical staff, radiology staff, management, and patients in person or by phone at all times. Schedules staff for days, weekends, nights, and on-call and is responsible for finding suitable replacements when necessary. Establishes guidelines and performance expectations for staff, which are clearly communicated through the formal employee performance management system. Observes workers' performance; demonstrates and conducts work performance critiques. Provides informal feedback and periodically evaluates employee performance. Develops performance standards and evaluates employees annually. Resolves informal complaints and grievances. Develops work improvement plans, recommending personnel actions as necessary. Provides advice and counsel to workers related to work and administrative matters. Interviews candidates for positions in the unit; recommends employee appointments, promotion, or reassignments to such positions in writing and submits to Chief of Radiology or designee for approval. Effects disciplinary measures as appropriate to the authority delegated in this area. Recommends employee awards and recognition in writing and submits to Chief of Radiology or designee for approval. Reviews and approves or disapproves leave requests based on department policy. Work Schedule: M-F 0830 - 1630 Telework: Not Available. Virtual: This is not a virtual position. Must have at least one year of experience at the next lower grade level, or equivalent, directly related to the position being filled. This experience must demonstrate the clinical competencies necessary to provide services as a quality control technologist, DRT team leader, or supervisory radiologic technologist. The experience should clearly reflect the applicants ability to perform advanced technical and supervisory duties within the field of radiologic technology. In addition, applicants must possess certification by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) as a Registered Radiologic Technologist in Radiography (R). Advanced certification in a secondary discipline, such as Computed Tomography (CT), Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MR), Mammography (M), or any advanced secondary certification through the ARRT, is recommended.<h3>Education</h3>IMPORTANT: A transcript must be submitted with your application if you are basing all or part of your qualifications on education.
