ABOUT THIS ROLE
<p>A Supervisory Clinical Laboratory Scientist (CLS) at this level develops, performs, evaluates, interprets, correlates, and validates the accuracy of laboratory procedures and results.</p><h3>Major Duties</h3><p>Total Rewards of a Allied Health Professional VHA Central California Healthcare System is currently recruiting for a Supervisory Clinical Laboratory Scientist (CLS), Phlebotomy-Send-outs to perform a full range of supervisory responsibilities in planning, directing, and assessing work of subordinate staff. The CLS spends 25% or more of their time providing administrative, technical supervision and performs major duties that consist of significant scope, complexity, difficulty and variety. Major Duties include: Full range of supervisory responsibilities in planning, directing, and assessing work of subordinate staff. Ensures that orientation, training, competency assessment, and continuing education requirements are met. Ensures compliance with accrediting agencies and regulatory requirements. Establishes and monitors the quality of pre-analytical processes as part of the overall laboratory quality management program and initiates corrective actions. Develops policies and procedures, manages document control, develops performance standards, position descriptions, and functional statements. Responsible for professional and administrative oversight of operations, including fiscal and resource management Maintains effective interdepartmental relations with other services to accomplish medical center goals. Serves as a working supervisor phlebotomy, specimen processing, Send-out CLS, and reference lab testing in the Clinical Laboratory Work Schedule: Monday - Friday 6:00am - 2:30pm, rotating weekends and holidays Pay: Competitive salary and regular salary increases. When setting pay, a higher step rate of the appropriate grade may be determined after consideration of higher or unique qualifications or special needs of the VA (Above Minimum Rate of the Grade). Paid Time Off: 37-50 days of annual paid time offer per year (13-26 days of annual leave, 13 days of sick leave, 11 paid Federal holidays per year)Selected applicants may qualify for credit toward annual leave accrual, based on prior [work experience] or military service experience. Parental Leave: After 12 months of employment, up to 12 weeks of paid parental leave in connection with the birth, adoption, or foster care placement of a child. Child Care Subsidy: After 60 days of employment, full time employees with a total family income below $144,000 may be eligible for a childcare subsidy up to 25% of total eligible childcare costs for eligible children up to the monthly maximum of $416.66. Retirement: Traditional federal pension (5 years vesting) and federal 401K with up to 5% in contributions by VA.
