Job Description:
Promotes a positive patient experience by demonstrating caring behaviors, maintaining clear communication, and collaborating with the care team to provide safe, timely, and effective whole person care. Follows CDC isolation guidelines, demonstrates appropriate use of PPE, performs hand hygiene according to policy, and enforces safety regulations Ensure the appropriate use and stewardship of medical supplies and equipment to support patient safety and operational efficiency Other duties as assigned. Administers medications and treatments as prescribed, ensuring patient safety and adherence to protocols. Performs related duties such as IV management in the neonate, lab collection, respiratory care and management, preparing delivery room for infant transition and care, and medication administration. Provides education and support to parents and family regarding infant care and appropriate bonding. Conducts appropriate care and screening of postpartum mothers. Provides couplet care and communicates effectively with the neonatal care provider and families regarding plan of care. Demonstrates adaptability in various situations. Exemplifies AdventHealth’s core values of Keep Me Safe, Make It Easy, Love Me, and Own It through behavior. Demonstrates knowledge and provides support to natural mother, agencies, and foster or adoptive parents when newborn is for adoption. Demonstrates knowledge of individual role in Hospital infant abduction plan. Accurately identifies and bands newborn, mother, and significant others with matching identification bands, and documents band identification number appropriately in medical record. Communicates effectively with patients, families, physicians, and staff, maintaining professional relationships and promoting a positive environment. Assists with the care and stabilization of the newborn following delivery. Maintains skills in neonatal resuscitation and stabilization. Assists with the transfer of newborn to another facility when indicated, and notifies charge nurse and House Supervisor of anticipated transfer.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
• Communication, delegation, coordination, evaluation, assessment, and interpersonal skills. [Required]
• Ability to navigate Microsoft Windows based programs. [Required]
• Participation in S.T.A.B.L.E. program for nurses working with newborns preferred; may obtain post-hire within six months. [Required]
Education:
• Associate's of Nursing [Required]
• Bachelor's of Nursing [Preferred]
Field of Study:
• N/A
Work Experience:
• 2+ years experience in an area of NICU Nursing [Required]
