<p>This position is located at the Indianapolis VA Medical Center within the Emergency/Urgent Care Department.</p><h3>Major Duties</h3><p>The Richard L. Roudebush VA Medical Center (RLRVAMC) is the flagship of the Indiana VA system marketed to patients and caregivers as Veteran Health Indiana (VHI) and is located two miles northwest of downtown Indianapolis. VHI has been serving Indiana Veterans since 1932. As Indiana's Level 1A, tertiary care facility, the RLRVAMC serves as home base for a system of inpatient and outpatient care across central Indiana. Community clinic locations include Bloomington, West Indianapolis, Martinsville, Terre Haute, Columbus, West Lafayette, Shelbyville and Crane. VHI includes a 50-bed homeless domiciliary, and the nation's only Veteran centric YMCA wellness center made available by the Indianapolis community. VHI receives referrals from Ft. Wayne and Marion, Indiana, and from nearby Danville, Illinois, VA facilities. Major duties and responsibilities of this position includes but is not limited to: Clinical Nurse Educator focus is on individual growth and development in practice with increased levels of self-direction and limited critical thinking skills. Clinical Nurse Educator is responsible for providing expert, evidence-based education to staff. Demonstrate proficiency in practice based on conscious and deliberate planning. Serves as a trainer and consultant for Resuscitation Education Initiative (Redi) Program including certification as Basic Life Support (BLS) instructor. Monitors and tracks BLS/Advanced Life Support (ALS) compliance within the organization. Self-directed in goal setting for managing complex situations. Assesses, plans, implements, and evaluates educational needs to facilitate learner development and skill training of clinical staff. Utilizes innovative teaching strategies, assessment skills, and evaluation of outcomes. Assumes responsibility for the coordination of education focused on staff education, self-management, and customer satisfaction throughout the healthcare continuum. Follows procedures per established policies and guidelines. Collaborates with other Clinical Nurse Educators and interprofessional healthcare teams in the ongoing clinical education activities including in-services, training, competency assessment, and evaluations of both current and new staff nursing skills. Preferred experience: Master of Science in Nursing. 5 years RN practice. 4 years experience in Emergency Nursing. Preference will be given to candidates who have demonstrated experience in a lead role or those who have successfully participated in or driven organizational initiates and/or goals.
