<p>The Risk Manager is a registered professional nurse, qualified by education and experience to monitor and evaluate clinical and administrative processes for the safe delivery of patient care throughout all applicable departments of the healthcare system through an integrated Quality Management Program that includes Risk Management, Peer Review, and Patient Safety Programs.</p><h3>Major Duties</h3><p>Duties include but not limited to: Designs/redesigns, implements, evaluates, and maintains the medical center's risk management program and supports the patient safety, risk management program. Demonstrates expertise in the interpretation and application of standards, directives, and regulations related to the risk management program. Ensures the healthcare system is in compliance with regulatory and accreditation standards and directives related to quality and risk management functions. Participates in the adverse event reporting process including analysis and follow up as needed. Acts as a consultant to the clinical staff on disclosure of the adverse event process and participates in the disclosure process when requested by leadership. Supports other investigative reviews such as Fact Finding and AIBs. Focus is on individual growth and development in practice with increased levels of self-direction. Brings principles and theory with limited application of critical thinking skills. Has a global understanding of how their area(s) of responsibility supports the system's mission and vision. Responsible and accountable for the planning, organization, and evaluation of effectiveness related to critical, informatics, and/or administrative process changes, analyzing issues impeding change, developing corrective actions to expedite change, and assuring optimum utilization of available resources to maintain a climate conducive to quality patient care and employee satisfaction. Functions as formal and informal educator; serving as a liaison between internal and external customers, supporting factors that impact customer satisfaction, considering the client population, including age and life stages, state of health, race and culture, values, and previous experiences. Influence care outcomes by collaborating with members of the interdisciplinary team. This position potentially requires flexibility in schedule and assignments. This may include but is not limited to medication administration and ADLs. Travel may be required up to 25%. Permanent Change of Station (PCS): Not Authorized.</p><h3>Requirements</h3>U.S. Citizenship; non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy.
