<p>The Kansas City VA Healthcare Network is seeking Registered Nurses for the Inpatient Service, (Medical/Surgical). The RN delivers competent, evidence-based care to assigned patients and provides oversight for licensed vocational nurses and nursing assistants as appropriate to the clinical setting. The nurse also contributes to the development and coordination of nursing education, orientation, and competency activities, and supports quality improvement and outcomes-focused initiatives.</p><h3>Major Duties</h3><p>The major duties and responsibilities of a Registered Nurse-4E(Medical/Surgical) include but are not limited to: Responsible and accountable for individual nursing practice and determines the appropriate delegation of tasks consistent with the nurse's obligation to provide optimal care. Focus on individual growth and development in practice with increased levels of self-direction. Ability to formulate a plan of care based on nursing assessments. Responsible for providing competent, evidence-based care to assigned patients and oversight of licensed vocational nurses/nursing assistants, as appropriate to the setting. Assists in directing the provision of nursing education, orientation, competencies and providing quality improvement and outcomes utilization consultation. Executes position responsibilities that demonstrate leadership, experience, and creative approaches to management of complex patient care. Collaborates in the development, implementation, evaluation, and revision of policies, procedures, and/or guidelines. Demonstrates performance and leadership that is broad enough to improve the care for a group of patients. Provides peers with formal or informal constructive feedback for improvement. Supports colleagues and other nurses through knowledge sharing to provide safe, quality nursing care.
