<p>The Registered Nurse-Peri-Anesthesia Care Unit is assigned to the Surgical Service Line. The RN provides pre-operative, Phase I and Phase II post recovery care to patients who have received anesthesia from general to local analgesic.</p><h3>Major Duties</h3><p>The Peri-Anesthesia Care Unit Staff provide preoperative and Phase II post recovery care to patients who have received anesthesia from general to local analgesic . The Peri-Anesthesia Care Staff focus is on the preparation for surgery with the patient/family, specialized acute patient care for the post-surgical, post-anesthesia adult patients who have had surgical, diagnostic, or therapeutic procedures including, but not limited to: General Surgery: Alimentary tract Abdomen and its contents Breast, skin, and soft tissue Endocrine system, including thyroid, parathyroid, adrenal, and endocrine pancreas Surgical oncology Complete care of critically ill patients with underlying surgical conditions Care of wounds secondary to diabetes, neuropathy, and pressure Ophthalmology Oral Surgery Otolaryngology Surgery Orthopedic Surgery Plastic Surgery Urological Surgery Vascular/Thoracic Surgery Preferred Experience: PACU, ICU, Acute care, and ER. Relocation/Recruitment Incentives: Not Authorized</p><h3>Requirements</h3>U.S. Citizenship; non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy. All applicants tentatively selected for VA employment in a testing designated position are subject to urinalysis to screen for illegal drug use prior to appointment.
