<p>The Carl Vinson VA Medical Center (CVVAMC) is seeking a highly motivated Registered Nurse to serve as an Assistant Nurse Manager in Acute Care. The Supervisory Assistant Nurse Manager (ANM) supports the Nurse Manager (NM) in overseeing operations of a nursing unit/patient care area. Fosters team development, ensures compliance with standards of clinical practice, and serves as a key liaison between staff and leadership.</p><h3>Major Duties</h3><p>The Supervisory Assistant Nurse Manager (ANM) supports the Nurse Manager (NM) in overseeing operations of a nursing unit/patient care area. Fosters team development, ensures compliance with standards of clinical practice, and serves as a key liaison between staff and leadership. This role combines clinical knowledge with leadership responsibilities and is often considered part of the succession plan for future NM positions, providing opportunities to develop management skills and prepare for higher-level leadership. Develops clinical expertise and is responsible and accountable for the nursing process when providing or overseeing direct patient care. Assesses, plans, implements, and evaluates delivery of care based on age specific components. Assumes responsibility for the coordination of care focused on patient education, self-management, and customer satisfaction throughout the continuum of care. Demonstrates sound decision-making and judgment and possess excellent interpersonal skills. Self-directed and influences care outcomes by collaborating with members of the interdisciplinary team and leading innovative process improvement initiatives. Duties include but not limited to: The Nurse Supervisory ANM supports the NM with the operation of their designated unit(s). Provides coverage for other ANMs as needed. Responsible and accountable for the direction and oversight of specific orientation, training, development of staff, and evaluation of individual staff performance. Develops ability to function as a role model, educator, practitioner, and leader. Influences care outcomes by collaborating with members of the interdisciplinary team to remove barriers and implement new evidence-based cutting-edge programs/processes. The Supervisory ANM is typically responsible for assisting the NM but is not responsible for independently carrying out the expectations of the NM on a routine basis. Exercises the authority to direct work, assign duties, evaluate employee performance, recommend employee awards, approve or deny leave, recall employees to duty, propose discipline, and adjust their grievances, or to effectively recommend such proposed discipline or grievance adjustments for employees under their direct supervision. Some common examples include but are not limited to the following examples: Serving as the first line supervisor of nursing personnel in the patient care area ensuring the head nurse/NM retains VA Handbook 5007 requirements (examples may include but are not limited to supervising the nursing assistants and/or licensed practical/vocational nurses (LPN/LVNs) in the patient care area or supervising the nursing personnel on evening and/or night shift) Approving schedules and leave for employees under their direct supervision Appraising performance, recommending performance standards, and recommending performance awards for employees under their direct supervision Serving as hiring official during the recruitment process for employees under their direct supervision Recommending proposed discipline or grievance adjustments for employees under their direct supervision VA offers a comprehensive total rewards package: VA Nurse Total Rewards Pay: Competitive salary, regular salary increases, potential for performance awards Paid Time Off: 50 days of paid time off per year (26 days of annual leave, 13 days of sick leave, 11 paid Federal holidays per year) Retirement: Traditional federal pension (5 years vesting) and federal 401K with up to 5% in contributions by VA Insurance: Federal health/vision/dental/term life/long-term care (many federal insurance programs can be carried into retirement) Licensure: 1 full and unrestricted license from any US State or territory Work Schedule: Full Time, Monday - Friday 10:00 am - 6:30 pm (Schedule subject to change based on agency need) Telework: Not Available Virtual: This is not a virtual position.
