<p>This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific eligibility requirements per VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Program Approval, award amount (up to $200,000) & eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after review of the EDRP application. Former EDRP participants ineligible to apply.</p><h3>Major Duties</h3><p>The VA Northeast Ohio Healthcare System is recruiting for a Registered Nurse. The Registered Nurse Critical Care will function in the SICU section within Nursing Acute Care Major Duties: -Leads professional practice using the nursing process (assessment, diagnosis, outcome identification, planning, implementation, and evaluation) to improve evidence-based and/or data-driven outcomes for an identified patient population and/or specialized areas within immediate practice setting. Leads the provision of nursing care to patients with complex care needs utilizing the nursing process -Improves Veteran/patient driven care by optimizing the patient experience, satisfaction and/or safety for the immediate practice setting. Serves as a resource and advocate for patients, caregivers, and staff to address and resolve ethical issues and improving outcomes for the immediate practice setting. -Communicates and collaborates as an effective leader of the interprofessional team. Demonstrates the ability to improve the effectiveness of communications and interactions with others, to inspire their cooperation and confidence to ensure safe and effective outcomes in the current practice setting. -Able to work in a fast paced, complex environment. -Able to quickly and efficiently perform required tasks. -Able to use critical thinking to apply the nursing process to the care of Veterans in a fast paced, complex environment. -Able to use, or learn to use, critical care equipment with confidence including, but not limited to: temporary pacemakers, Swan-Ganz catheters, chest tubes, arterial lines, central lines, IABPs, SA drains, mechanical ventilators, LVADs, and Continuous Renal Replacement Therapy. -Proficient and thorough with charting in an Electronic Health Record. Preferred experience: 2+ years of Critical Care or step-down experience. Current BLS/ACLS. CCRN preferred. ADN required, BSN preferred.
